@mrsbookworm: I just finished A Little Life and I feel so conflicted about it. I feel like the violence was so gratuitous. The prose was beautiful in parts and but overwrought in many places. I'm still so confused with how I feel now that I am done. What are your thoughts?

I just finished Ghettoside and I loved it! I read Before I Go to Sleep before that and it was pretty good. I just started My Husband's Secret because I needed a somewhat lighter read after Ghettoside.

@shortcake: I agree with you about the violence being a bit much, especially in regards to the domestic abuse incident. I found myself really disturbed by parts of the book, but it made me think. I made my husband read it so I could talk to someone else about it! The characters really stayed with me though. I feel like that's a hallmark of a well-written book.
