I want to order some books for my DD for her upcoming 4th birthday. Any suggestions for what she might enjoy?

The book with no pictures by BJ Novak (yes, that BJ Novak). I know several 4 and 5 y.o.s that are OBSESSED. The concept is that it’s full of nonsense that the reader HAS to say, stuff like “I like to eat bugs.” We got it for my 4 1/2 yo niece at Christmas and not only did she know it from school, she ran around the room shouting holding it over her head and made SIL read it to her immediately instead of opening more presents. I think they just came out with a sequel where the kiddo can write in their own nonsense too.

I second the The book with no pictures!
We love Chris Van Dusen books - The Circus Ship, If I built a school, If I built a house, If I built a car, the Mr Magee books.
Books from Andrea Beaty - Ada Twist Scientist, Rosie Revere Engineer, Sofia Valdez Future Prez, and Iggy Peck Architect
I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg makes her mark by Debbie Levy
The most magnificent thing by Ashley Spires
Fancy Nancy Books (not my favorite by DD loves them all)

For those who like the Book with No Pictures, try My Book with No Pictures - it’s a Mad-Libs version of it. My kids are obsessed with ours. Avoid if your kids are especially potty-humour inclined and you don’t want to read “my name is Poopoo Toilethead” fifty times a day.
The Princess in Black is great, as is My Father’s Dragon.

My boys love the easy readers featuring their favorite characters. Now that he’s in K my oldest can read many of them on his own.
I second Mo Willems. We discovered his books when DS1 just turned 5, but they have been a huge hit all year.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really dislike the Mercy Watson books! My 4 year old would never sit for them, never mind my 7 year old.
Love Mo Willems.... My 4 year old is currently loving: Ice Boy, Creepy Carrots and Creepy Underwear, Chalk (no words, you make it up as you view), Berenstein Bears books, Curious George books, and my little man likes anything have to do with monsters or spooky things.
