Does anyone have recommendations of either children's books or books for parents to read about teaching young kids about body parts / eventually sex? I grew up in a house where we never used the right words for body parts (nor talked about them in general) and I'd really like to do things differently for my kids.
My 3.5 year old is starting to ask questions about her and my body and her brother's body and I have NO idea what to say!

DD (16 mo) touches her vagina during diaper changes, so I do tell her not to stick her finger into her vagina. I've pointed to my chest and told her these are boobs, lol.

We're straightforward about body parts/functions and names. At 3, 4, and now 5, I answer questions directly and succinctly. There's no need to give a dissertation at this point.
We have a couple of basic human anatomy and biology books and he browses them/asks questions sometimes about names and functions (he's just looking at drawings/diagrams at this point), but because these books cover the whole body and not just reproduction, he sees those parts in the larger context. And that seems to make it feel like a less "sensitive" topic (at least from my perspective!).

@snowjewelz: Haha, my DD keeps seeing my boobs and saying - look at your little bellies! Are there babies in those bellies? I'm like ummm....I think we need to have a talk!

Hmmm... I guess for us, some of this stuff has come up naturally, although maybe it's because I have boys! Boys love to grab their own penises when they can (diaper changes/bath), so when they do, I'll say "That's your penis" or "Okay, let go of your penis so I can put your diaper back on" or "Alright, stop playing with your penis." LOL. Once my oldest started potty training (2.5), he started learning the difference between girls and boys. First we had to teach him "Point your penis down" when going potty. Then when he would tell ME "Point your penis down," I explained that I didn't have one because I'm a girl and I have a vagina. Cue dinner conversation of "Mama has a 'gina and I have a penis!" And then we'll talk about the different kids in his class and how some are girls and have vaginas and some are boys and have penises. He pretty much gets it at this point (3).

Love the idea of a whole body book. DD is 3 and we are entering this stage of questions too.
