What type of books are you reading to your 4-5 year old? We haven't attempted chapter books yet, I just don't think she is ready. We do a lot of the early readers and even some board books still, since her little sister loves them. I feel like soon we will need to "move up" in books, to keep her interest.

We have started one chapter book (Charlotte's Web). She likes early readers, but really likes long picture books. We have a lot of vintage ones (current favorite is Lovable Lyle- Lyle the Crocodile). We also read board books still. She loves Little Critter books, Berenstein Bears, Oliver Jeffers books. She really doesn't care, she just wants someone to read to her.

We read a ton of Level 1 Transformers books these days. I love reading him the Little Critter books too. We have a bunch of Scholastic books that are in heavy rotation as well.

Anything superhero from the library. A particular favorite are the easy readers that have numbers on the cover corresponding to various levels of difficulty.

We started doing a mix of chapter and picture books around age 5.
Between 4 & 5 DS1 Berenstain Bears was/is a favorite. -
Around 4, my DD really liked the Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa books, the Frog and Toad stories, and anything by Kevin Henkes.

Level 1 and Level 2 reader books and her absolute favorite - Magic Tree House.
