Has anyone put the Boon Lawn in the dishwasher? The product info says its not dishwasher safe, so I've been hand washing. But I think it'll be easier AND more effective to put it in my dishwasher. Afraid to ruin it though.
Thanks!

I wouldn't.
It sounds like you're washing it on a regular basis...is there a reason that's necessary? I mean, you only put clean things on it! I pull the two pieces apart and wash between them every week or two, but not all the time...is that just me?

@wonderstruck: Ha, you're better than I was! I think I washed ours about once a month. (gross) But yeah, just handwash. If it says not dishwasher safe, then it's not. Err on the side of caution, especially with plastic.

Oops I didn't know it wasn't dishwasher safe! I do it on the top rack. It's lasted a couple times.
ETA: i thought i read it was dishwasher safe. it seems like some sites that sell them say they are: http://www.toysrus.com/buy/accessories/boon-grass-countertop-drying-rack-375-4179885 but the boon site says not. not sure why there is a discrepency between the two. from what i googled it seems like all the sites EXCEPT the actual boon site say it is dishwasher safe. weird!

I washed both pieces in the sink (we don't have a dishwasher) and they still grew mold. the white tray was easy enough to disinfect but I couldn't get all the spots out of the green no matter what I did. I sadly tossed it

I put both pieces in our dishwasher on their side. The "grass" part came out very slightly warped (almost imperceptible) but I feel better knowing they are sanitized and it still works just as well!

We put ours in the top rack and there wasn't any problem. I didn't even know it wasn't dishwasher safe, whoops.

@kodybear: That IS really strange! I'm tempted to try it now since you posted this. Although it seems it might just be an error on BRU's site.
@wonderstruck: @littlebug: I do hand wash it semi regularly but quite honestly I do forget and when I remember it's when I've already covered it with bottle paraphernalia so I have to wait. I just figured it would be easy and maybe more sanitary to put it in the dishwasher. It does get a little gunky in the tray...but I guess if I hand washed it more often it wouldn't get so gross
Maybe first I'll try to be better about hand washing and then I can experiment in the dishwasher if I just can't get my act together. Worst case I'll buy another!

I've washed ours (in the dishwasher) multiple times and haven't had an issue.

@wonderstruck: If I wait that long (2 weeks), ours fills up with some "interesting" mold. It's horrible. And, I'm an *awesome* mom, and usually forget to wash it until like 4 weeks, which is like a horror movie!!!
