Thinking of all the Boston Bee's on here. Also thinking about all the families and friends impacted by this terrible time. The first thing that came to mind when I found out was if DH's cousin was running again this year. Thankfully she didn't run this year. I just can't even imagine......

@Maysprout: No word at all from work...so I'm assuming yes. I work a few miles from the explosion site so I think it will be ok.

My husband was running. They stopped him less than half a mile from the finish. I was on my way to the finish to meet him. In this tragedy I witnessed so much kindness. Strangers helping strangers. Two women gave my husband water, clothes and helped him walk to safety. Such a sad day, especially since so many were raising money for wonderful charities. Hope all your loved ones are safe!

I just learned that another friend of mine was 100 yards from the first blast. He is shaken but okay.

A college friend of mine was hurt - someone posted on her FB via her phone that they found the phone being trampled on the street. She's ok, just needs stitches, but so scary. I'm having a hard time falling asleep.

@Shutterbug: I'm sorry to hear about your friend! I can't even imagine how awful it must have been to be at the end, whether you were physically hurt or not. My brother's girlfriend was waiting at the finish line for him, she's ok but I think it will take a long time for people to heal emotionally. I feel awful for what people had to go through to get home too, or wherever they were staying. My brother had to walk home to Cambridge because there was no other way & we were hearing reports of more devices, it must have been terrifying to have to be walking around wondering if the next trash barrel you pass is gonna blow up. I'm feeling very anxious after all of it & can't seem to relax after someone downstairs burned something so I woke up to smoke & alarms going off everything just seems that much scarier right now.

I went to bed last night thinking "I didn't even check Hellobee!!!" My parents were arriving for the week right at the time of the incident so we were all a bit scrambled. We didn't even watch much coverage until later that night because Wagon Jr. was up and started asking questions about what he was seeing (and why the TV was even on in the first place! And why it wasn't Bubble Guppies!). The coverage was so graphic we ended up turning it off.

We have a few friends and family who were spectators or live in the area of the blast but everyone is safe. So so so so many others who were not.

A close friend of mine is on the BPD swat team and he's been posting on fb that he's fine, but no doubt will be working round the clock this week. Whenever anything like this happens my heart is in my throat for his wife and baby girl. I don't know how they do it.

My heart is broken. Yesterday I was just numb and quiet for Wagon Jr.'s sake but today it's all sinking in. Boston is my home, my heart, and I'm so angry and confused. I can't stop thinking about the 8 year old boy who died, his mom who is in critical condition, and his dad who was running the race at the time.

I'm not going to work today (the museum is open but it's just so close to the area they've blocked off as the crime scene, it will be a madhouse down there in terms of traffic), and I just don't know if I could keep it together. Feels so inappropriate to be so emotional about it when all my loved ones are safe. So many hundreds of people out there whose loved ones were not so lucky.

I can't wait until whoever is responsible is brought to justice.

@regberadaisy: I did, thank you! He was in mile 25 & his girlfriend was waiting at the finish line, they're both ok though.

Wagon Sr. got to work just fine. He took the train and subway and didn't even get stopped (he didn't bring his bag and wore his Tufts ID on the outside of his jacket) and he is reporting back on how starstruck he is about the K9 unit. He had a german shepherd growing up who ended up working for the K9 unit for the NYPD so he is absolutely in love with police dogs.

@mrs. wagon: my DH said he saw 20+ state police K-9 units driving east down the pike this morning. He said he couldn't believe we even had so many! Glad you guys are safe, and I agree that I wouldn't have been able to go in to work if I worked that close to the scene.

@mrs. bird: hope you got some sleep last night

@mrs. wagon: I just read that the 8 year old boy that died had a sister who lost her leg. So sorry for that family.

    Thanks for checking in!

Hi all, have been avoiding this thread because I'm on information/sadness overload, but thought I'd check in. Same as @mrs. wagon: I am just overwhelmingly sad and depressed about all of this albeit happy everyone I know who was running and/or at the finish line at the time of the blast is okay. I lived a couple of blocks away from there for 5 years (and went to the finish line all 5) so just feeling too close to this for comfort.

@bluestriped bee: The mom of that kid suffered a traumatic brain injury she probably won't recover from. All 3 of them were waiting for the dad to cross the finish line. So horrific.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. I am happy to hear that all of our Boston bees and their families are fine.

Like others have mention, I have a very heavy heart today and can't shake the anxiety.

@Mrs. Jacks: He came home late last night and returned at 5:30 a.m. I haven't heard from him today, so I hope everything is going well at the hospital.
