Looks like police either have made an arrest or are extremely close to it! I hope we get some answers about why someone would do something like this...

And now they are taking it back-- conflicting reports but looks like no arrest has been made yet. I have a feeling every reporter on this is totally panicking trying to figure it out.

@highwire: The NYT is usually pretty good about holding off until stories are confirmed! They had a slip with the Adam Lanza story, and now they are more careful than ever!!

My guess is they are super close to arresting someone but don't want to officially release things. In which case, news outlets should really respect that. As much as I want the news, I want to BPD and FBI to be able to do their jobs first. This seriously reminds me of an episode of Newsroom.

I'm clearly not getting work done and am instead following the non-news, but it sounds like they brought the suspect to the courthouse:

@Foodnerd81: I am so confused too. I thought maybe they thought there was another bomb. but they still have live areial coverage going and people are still near the building.

Yeah, I have no idea. I just keep updating boston.com trying to figure out what's going on, but I should just stop. It would just be nice to have answers...

@mrbee: CBS corroborates that statement. The courthouse evacuation was a precaution based on concern of a threat.

Total speculation, but I'm feeling like maybe the suspect mentioned a bomb in the courthouse as a last-ditch effort to avoid getting arrested? I'm just relieved they know who it is, and presumably where he is, since they've released that information.

If they do have the suspect in custody (which, I agree with your speculation, @Shutterbug: ) then I have to say I'm impressed with how quickly the investigation moved, considering the size of the crime scene, the crowds, and the total lack of information.

Watching the news and cannot believe what I'm seeing. Police / SWAT are going door to door, friends can't leave their homes...all MBTA modes are suspended
And just heard the suspects are Czech brothers from Turkey who has lived here for a year. All of this is crazy!

Woke to the news on this morning....It is unreal to think about the whole city being shut down! I hope all the Boston Bees are doing OK today. I hope that this ends quickly. My thoughts and prayers are with the families still grieving from the marathon and with the Police officers family that passed away in the wee morning.

DH downloaded a police scanner app and has that playing while we have the local news on the TV and I keep scanning twitter and FB (and HB of course).
I think this goes down as the craziest morning I've ever experienced, but I'm thankful to be pretty far from all this. They are evacuating a lot of people in the area.

Very early for me, I'm on the west coast. DH just woke me to say the killed one of the suspects. On a hunt for the other. Watching it now on TV. DH's good friend lives in Cambridge. I hear that's close to Watertown.

@knittylady: That IS crazy! I haven't been keeping up with this story but can kind of see what's going on with the tv on silent as I'm up with baby early this morning (I'm on west coast).
