Which one did your LO prefer? Definitely bouncer for both kids. We did use the swing a little bit, but could have lived without it. Especially its big footprint! We used the bouncer pretty much every single day until they started crawling.

She liked the bouncer more, but didn't love it. Hated the swing.

They loved the swing so much! Alice napped in it until she was 7 months old. I just got the bouncer out the other day to give to a friend and both of them are obsessed with it. They use it like a lounger to watch tv now, haha!

From birth to 5 months, they both preferred the movement of the swing. After 5 months they loved the bouncer.

@twodoghouse: my DD is obsessed with her old bouncer, too! We had lent it to friends and they recently returned it...when she saw it, she immediately started putting her stuffed animals in it, but then realized she could climb in. I'm so afraid it's going to snap under her weight, but it's hilarious to compare pictures of her in it when she was a couple months old and then now. I tried to hide it in our basement storage room but she scoped it out, guess I'm going to have to be more creative.

I think the bouncer has a much longer lifespan before LO is done with it, but the swing is far more essential for the first few months when it creates sleep magic.

The bouncer was useful as a safe place to place LO with some toys and was super portable. I put her in there while I took a shower or ran downstairs for some breakfast. Also useful to keep upright after a feed because my LO is spitty. However, the swing was essential and I would t have bought the bouncer if it hadn't been gifted to us. She took most of her naps at home for the first 5 months in the swing. Now at 6 months we are getting ready to put it away because she doesn't need it to sleep and is eager her more actively engaged if awake. We still use the bouncer as a place for her to sit, but suspect the days are numbered as she us transitioning to sitting unassisted.

LO loved the swing and it was all we had to begin with. When LO was 4 months old we were gifted a used bouncer and she loved that too although she didn't bounce herself in it ever.

Following this thread. What kind of bouncer did you all have and love? BabyBjorn is on my short list because I like the way it looks and thE description says baby's natural movements makes it bounce.

We had a small swing, no bouncer. We could have skipped the swing, in all honesty.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: This is what we have for my 2.5 month old and it is the BEST! I found it used and admit I was skeptical at first given the original purchase price (ouch) and simple design compared to other bouncers... (but who am I kidding, I actually hate ornate baby things). Turns out it was the best purchase ever! My baby loves it and it has been a life saver as far as being able to set her down and get things done. She tolerates the swing but if I had to do it over, I would just have bought the Baby Bjorn bouncer, even brand new! I'd definitely register for it/splurge for it if you can't find it used!

bouncer was used very short term and only really during the "witching hour" - which did make it critical.
The swing she LOVED for months and would nap in it for hours a day!

I got the bouncer that's also a swing (glider, really) and she liked it both stationary and gliding. I answered other since mine is a 2-in-1!

I needed both. The swing was good at keeping him asleep, so I could put him down for a bit and not be tied to the couch. The bouncer was necessary as a baby container in the bathroom so I could shower and get ready in the morning. I do mornings solo with DS so that was the only way I could get ready. We also ended up buying a second one to have near the door so I could put on my shoes and get out the door. Our garage was on a floor by itself and we stopped using the infant carrier at 4 months so I needed somewhere to set him down.

DD1 liked the swing more
DD2 liked the bouncer more, we actually stopped using the swing after like 3 months because she kept wanting to roll in it.

My DD was obsessed with the swing. We used it until she was 11 months old! She liked the BabyBjorn bouncer too, but didn't get into it until a bit later.
