And not to pass any judgments, but wouldn't you have used a 2-month expired epi pen?!

Oh my gosh oso sad. That poor family. I teared reading how she stayed with her son for hours after he died. I cannot imagine leaving the hospital without my child.

This is terrible! I can't believe they told her not to use the expired epi pen. In an emergency like this, I would have used it!

@tequiero21: I do agree that 911 operators and even doctors probably can't advise to patients to take expired medication.
I took a CPR class and I think paramedics can't even administer epi pens unless it has been prescribed to you.
You could be having allergic reaction and don't have an epi pen but if a stand by-er has one, the paramedics still can't give it to you. They don't want to get sued. Plus, they have to think about any possible drug allergies or interactions.
There is an inhaled epinephrine that is does not require an RX that paramedics have recommended. I forget what it's called.

OMG you can use an Epi-pen as long as the solution hasn't changed color! There's a little window for you to check the color.
And this is why with food allergies I don't eat baked goods of any kind unless I baked it myself - people swear it doesn't have peanut/tree nut/palm products, but I just couldn't trust that they have enough knowledge about allergens to put my life in their hands.
