So we are fairly set on Alastair... however we shared with family and now I am bummed. I would've preferred to keep it a surprise, for some reason.
Anyway, my husband is very attached to Alastair... can anyone recommend names with a similar flavor?? Bonus points if they are Scottish or Irish in origin

Wait a second! I missed your gender announcement! Congrats! What about Graham or Graeme? I think it is an English name but is also associated with Scotland and Ireland.

@delight: Thanks! I like Graeme but there's someone in our life with that name who we do not like haha, so it's out!
@Eko: The thing is, people didn't even dislike it, I'm just sad we didn't keep it a surprise, like we did with my DD.

If we had a boy he was going to be Lachlan. I'm still a bit sad we will (probably) never get to use the name !

@sslm: I had to read DH the riot act the other night when we were discussing names - I don't want it shared early either!!
Asher is the only similar name that comes to mind. But I think if you love Alistair, stick with it. This telling family early business will be nothing but a memory once baby boy is here

I think it's such a great name! Maybe you could keep the middle name a surprise still?

@sslm: I think you should start floating other ideas out there so people don't know what you will choose... But stick with the name you love in the end. People will still be surprised but you get to keep the name.

I wouldn't change it though, the pre-baby wait when everyone knows the name is so short compared to the baby's life going by that name.
