Sitting...I have never heard of sitting facing backward?? What would be the reasoning for that?

@hilsy85: I've heard that it gets them comfortable aiming to the back so they can eventually stand.
We have kind of a high toilet, so LO sits. Even with a step stool it's hard for him to stand and aim.

@rachiecakes: ah ok...I guess I just don't see how it would be comfortable! but we still haven't gotten Lo to use the big potty at all

@hilsy85: idk I've just heard of this. I'm guessing 1. Because it's how he would stand later? And 2. on our little potty, when he sits normal, his pee could splash out if he doesn't get back far enough. Facing backward, he's kind of straddling so his stuff points down more...? Hard to explain...

@travellingbee: I get what you mean, I just think that based on the shape of the potty it would be uncomfortable for my Lo! but if it works, great!

We aren't quite there yet but a friend with two pre-teen boys told me to teach sitting down and always get them to sit at home. Less mess this way.

@ALV91711: Thats kinda our plan too. Try to teach sitting for now. But i do think it depends on the boy because my one friend said when her little guy sat, it didn't point down, it would point straight out and still totally miss the bowl. So for him it was actually easier to stand.

We tried him both sitting backwards and forwards, but now he's comfortable enough to climb up himself and sit forward.
@hilsy85: We actually did backward facing for a bit because it gave him something to hold on to on the big potty. It can be scary for some to balance on the big potty forward facing until they get the hang of it. It's just the way my mom started me and my siblings, and so I started the same way.

Sitting but he's seen some boys at school with older brothers who stand and has been wanting to try that. He actually does great with it.

We started sitting facing forward, but he saw the other boys at daycare standing so he likes to do that now.

We started with him standing. When we're home he usually sits facing forward. When we're out, he'll go standing

We taught him sitting forward like a girl. One day he decided to pee like a boy standing up. Now (4 yrs old) occasionally he pees like a frog with feet on the seat squatting.

Sitting facing forward. However this morning at daycare he decided he wanted to stand.
I tried facing him backwards but he has to get completely undressed in order to sit comfortably and I'm not dealing with that in public bathrooms when we're usually wedged in like sardines anyways.

we taught charlie to sit on the potty, but he learned very quickly to stand up and do it in public. they pick it up quick when they see dad doing it!

Tried to teach him to sit but he just won't pee sitting. Has peed standing from the first time he used the potty. This is now why we are having a hard time getting him to poop in the potty! He thinks he should stand and has pooped on the floor a couple of times.
