I wore a sports bra the whole time. Even during my c-section. You're "allowed" to do whatever you want! I didn't even ask. Do what makes you the most comfortable. I definitely would have been self conscious the whole time if I had been braless.

I wore one of the belly bands that hold the monitors over my chest. Even while in the shower. The nurse pulled it down for skin to skin and later cut it off when R pooped on it.

@swedishfish, I wore mine even when I had my epidural and afterwards! The epidural goes into the lower/middle part of your back....my bra was never an issue.
