Bra size changes with pregnancy and nursing

Did your bra size change a lot while you were pregnant? Did it then change a lot when your milk came in and you were nursing?

Mine has changed a lot with pregnancy-- up more than a cup size and 2 band sizes, even though I'm carrying low and am mostly belly. I'm wondering if that would mean I'm in for bigger changes than someone whose size stayed more the same throughout their pregnancy, or if I already made the changes that are going to happen...

I'm not planning on buying nursing bras and stuff until after, but I'd like to have at least a solid nursing tank and maybe one stretchy nursing bra to start off with when the baby is born.

Prepreg I was a 34 C. During pregnancy I went up to a 36Cish. Maybe a D. Nursing I went up to a 36 DD but I think at 16 weeks PP, I am a 36D. Definitely buy several nursing tanks ahead of time. Those were/are the best.

I went up a size while pregnant and then another size when my milk came in. I went up one band size during pregnancy and then dropped back to a 36 a month after having her

Pre pregnancy I was a 38D/DD. Nursing at 13 weeks now, I am a 40E/F.

@travellingbee: Any recommendations for nursing tanks that don't come in bra sizes? It seems like some of the highest rated ones are actually sized, so I want to wait on those-- so good S, M, L ones?

@Foodnerd81: up two cup and band during preg bigger when nursing at first and slowly shrinking back starting around 4 months

Pre preg I was a 34 C. During pregnancy I was a 36 DD. now with my milk, I'm in an E nursing bra! I'm wearing a sports bra style one now, it's the most comfortable

@Foodnerd81: Not made for nursing but Old Navy's Tami tanks are so convenient. One of the bees recommended them to me, and they've been a life saver under my regular clothes. They stretch out nicely and retain their shape.

@Pepper: I did get a tami already (I think based on your thread where they recommended it) but then you need a bra too, right? Did you just do a stretchy sports bra like nursing bra under the tami, then?

@Foodnerd81: yep, I'm currently wearing a sports bra style nursing bra from motherhood maternity under my tami tank. I just pull the tank down and unclip the bra and we're good to go!

My boobs were big to begin with and just got bigger and bigger. If I'm engorged, it's absolutely ridiculous.

I made the mistake of buying nursing bras right after I'd pumped. They're pretty tight in between nursing/pump sessions. It's like a case of mastitis waiting to happen.

So be cautious with sizing!

Pre pregnancy - 32 (small) C
By the time my son was born - 34DD
When milk came in - 34F

Then as I lost weight, but was still breastfeeding, I got down to a large 32C.

Now I'm 10w5 pregnant again, still breastfeeding, and they're growing again.

Yeah it was crazy. I was a 34C when I got pregnant, sometimes a D depending in the brand. A week or two before giving birth I was a 38F, and after my milk evened out I was a 38G. Now that he's weaned and I lost all baby weight I'm a 34DD.

@Foodnerd81: I like the nursing tanks at Target. The Gillogan O'Malley ones. They do stretch out a bit. I pretty much wore those everyday during my maternity leave and on the weekends now. I also like the sleep bras from Motherhood. http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=91178Z10120&MasterCategory_Id=MC13 I love these things. They would also work under the tami tank if you're just at home.

As far as boob changes for me. I was a 34C pre-pregnancy. They grew a little while pregnant. Not sure what size b/c I wore the coobie bras. I waited until about 2-3 months pp to buy a bra and I got a 36D, but now I've lost weight and need a 34DD or larger. Sometime the 36D is a little small when my boobs are full. I'm almost 9 months pp.

I like the Bravado Basics Felicity nursing tanks from Target. Cheap(er), S/M/L sized, and they held my belly in a little. I've done the tank/bra combo, too, and it works well. But I think the tanks are easier because it's just one piece to work with/worry about.

@Mrs. Pen: Whoa-- even after losing the baby weight and weaning they are still two cup sizes bigger? A teeny part of me hopes that will happen-- I always wanted bigger boobs, but I have so many bras in my old size!

So overall it sounds like I should size up slightly from where I am now and should be OK for the first several weeks.

I was a small 34 C and went up to D+ during pregnancy. I only wore Bravado nursing bras for at least the first 3 months. I bought a medium and it was fine. It stretches well without ever being too tight. Now I can comfortably wear my D bras again.

I carried VERY high, so I gained about 6 inches in my band. It was crazy. That obviously went away quickly, but not totally. I'm still up a band size. And 21 months into nursing, my boobs have never been the same size. It's making me nuts. I keep having to buy new bras.

I went over to Target and got 2 different nursing tanks and two stretchy nursing bras-- one more sleep style and one with a back hook, but still stretchy. I think that will be plenty to get me through until my milk comes in and I feel human enough to make it back out to the store!

I would personally advise not spending any real money on these things until you've hit that point of not leaking when you have a let down. About 6 months for me. Until then I just needed a ton of bras to change into, and just bought whatever I could find that was comfy and cheap. Later I went for nicer stuff.

Before pregnancy: 36B
By the time my son was born: 36C
When milk came in (first 3 weeks): 36D (It was swelling too)
At 8m pp: back at 36B again sometimes a 34C during periods

I'm having the same question! I guess I'm the lucky one who's already gone from a 32AA to a 32D at 28 weeks, I'm scared to see what happens.

Before my first pregnancy- 34B
During pregnancy- 34C
PP and nursing- 36C
After I weaned and throughout my second pregnancy- 34A or AA sometimes I was flat!

PP and nursing right now- 34/36 C

Before pregnancy 34C
During a very snug 34C
After/nursing definitely a D, but I was mostly wearing nursing tanks or those sports bra-like nursing bras. Bras were Medela size large, target brand size large and target nursing camis size medium.
After nursing I went back to 34C, but a smaller C than pre-baby
