LO started daycare a week and a half ago at 4 months old and at first didn't poop there at all. Now the past 3 days he is pooping 3 or more times a day. It looks the same as it always has just a sudden increase in how often. He is acting normal.
Daycare just called and mentioned it because policy is they have to go home at 3 a day.
Anyone experience weird poop changes when LO started daycare? I guess it could be diarrhea, but could it be related to him going from being breastfed to getting the milk in bottles? I usually send 1 bottle from my freezer stash. Or could it be something I am eating now that I am back at work?

I'm really surprised by that policy. Am I understanding correctly - they are sent home if they poop more than 3 times a day?

Wow, that is a crazy rule. I think our daycare's policy is if they have two or three BLOW OUTS per day then they are sent home. But as long as its a normal poop and contained by the diaper, they are fine.

I just called my SIL who worked at many daycares and she thinks it might be a PA law that 2 or more watery poops is considered diarrhea and sent home. All I can find in the handbook is "Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour
period (including recurring episodes
of diarrhea at school)"
I guess they interpret that as 3. Which when a baby is eating solids or on formula might work, but he is EBF and always has watery poops. Sometimes if I change him too fast what is probably 1 big poop seems like 2. -
That's crazy! My LO would get sent home every day if that was the policy at her daycare.

I'm with @mrs. tictactoe on the policy! It's just regular poop, not loose or anything, right? Have they mentioned what the stools look like to you?
Just because of the change, I may go through a sterilization process with all of your bottles and nipples again. What milk are you sending, oldest or newest? If you've been sending old milk, try sending some new milk and see if that helps. Then start transitioning back to the old milk to see if maybe that is what is causing it.

Hopefully they are interpreting it more like @T.H.O.U. with blowouts or this could be a major problem until he is eating solids in a few months!
Thanks @MEDIAGIRL sterilize is a good idea. Do you boil all the parts--like the cap over the nipple and the collar of the nipple -they are medela bottles?
I have been putting bottles nipples caps in the dishwasher in one of those special boxes, but maybe they aren't getting clean or rinsed well. -
um, this is weird. My LO went to daycare for the first time yesterday and also pooped 3x. She normally goes only once a day. I have no idea, I thought it might be from the bottles of milk since she is used to breastmilk?

woah, my LO usually poops 3x a day, and sometimes those 3 poops = blowouts & new outfits. what a strange rule!?!
I think kml636 has the right idea --- when we started sending our little man to our daycare lady he started having more blowouts than i was used to - maybe more poop and I think it was because he was chugging the bottle, whereas when BFing with me he's eating a little slower... but I'm not sure.

She was only going 1 or 2x a day and lately it has been like 5+ every day which coincided with an increase in the amount of breastmilk she was getting (had mastitis so I was nursing constantly, and then sent her to daycare with bottles of BM).
