I don't get this.
Shouldn't it be based on WHAT they are eating not from where... EPing isn't quite EBFing, but if we're just discussing nutrition/feeding, it is to me!
My LO is FF, and I dislike saying "bottlefed." Like, what else would I put her formula in? It almost seems like a euphemism for FF, like I should be embarrassed to say she is FF!
I just think it's odd. I know I can't be the only one!

I think it matters if you're breastfeeding, nursing vs bottle feeding. Especially if you are having any troubleshooting issues.

I never know how to answer the question of "are you nursing/is she breastfed." No she isn't, but she eats 75-90% breastmilk, just from a bottle. I feel like it turns into this long discussion of why we don't nurse, why I EP.

True! But most of the time I've been asked this has been in regard to what LO is eating. When I was pumping, I said, pumping, but it never made a difference to the doctors (3 different ones, her pedi and two others who saw her.)

@maisymay Thank you! I'd still consider you "a nursing mom" because you're producing milk and feeding it to LO even through a bottle...but not "nursing." Lol, so confusing!
I feel like they should first ask, breast milk or formula and if you say breast milk THEN maybe breast or bottle if it's relevant.

I think our mothers' generations equate "bottle feeding" to formula feeding. I had several really confusing conversations early on with my MIL and women from work who were asking when X would start using the bottle. After a while it clicked: for women over 50, bottle feeding means formula feeding.

@googly-eyes: I agree. I exclusively pump, but a lot of the time I just say she's breast fed because technically she's getting all of her food from my breast.. haha. We did well breastfeeding for a little over a month, but her GI specialist suggested bottle feeding since LO has severe reflux and wasn't handling my letdown well.. I don't feel like explain that to everyone, so I just say breast fed.
FWIW, our ped just asks what she's eating.. not how..
