Several times each day while nursing my one month old, she will start coughing and take her mouth off my nipple at which point breast milk will be spraying out of my nipple! I never knew breast milk could come out at such high speed spray. Is this because she is sucking too hard?

I have this same issue. I have an oversupply of milk and a forceful letdown, so my LO sometimes coughs or pulls herself off of the breast because the milk is coming too fast for her.
What has been helping me (this was all advice I combined from my LC and pediatrician) is block feeding off of one side for a few hours; working against gravity--getting her to latch using cradle hold but then leaning back or using a reclining position; and expressing some milk before feeding her.

Like @mrsjazz: I had the same oversupply issue I think from when LO was 1-2 months and then it was just on my right side and eventually it all evened out. I did the same things @mrsjazz did - block feeding and hand expressing before feeding (sometimes for a few minutes into a burp cloth until the spraying stopped) and also nursing her as upright as possible.

When I was going to school I was so full at times that I would only have to give my boob a bit of a squeeze and milk would start spraying out.

I don't have an oversupply but this still happens. Basically LO has stimulated a let down and the milk is a flowin so it comes out.

It stopped for me after about 3 months.
