Breech: external version or scheduled c-section?

My daughter was head down and flipped herself at 38 weeks. We found out at our appointment at 38.5 weeks. Our OB didn't recommend ECV so late in the game and recommended a scheduled c-section. For me, I was comfortable with our OB and trusted his advice. He also gave us the option to talk to another OB in his practice for a second opinion. To me, that second opinion cemented that we were making a good decision. You could ask your OB if there's someone else you can talk to. Our c-section was a really positive experience and I wouldn't do it differently.

My experience is a tad different, since I had twins. Baby B was always breech and never turned. Obviously there was less room in my belly for him to turn. So even though Baby A was head down, we opted for a c section since Baby B was flipped. My c section was easy peasy and I had a super simple recovery as well!

@night cheese: Just wanted to tell you I'm at 35 w 4 days and was able to confirm today my breech baby has flipped sometime in the past two weeks I'm so happy! I hope you get the same news soon! Hopefully she stays heads down, too.

Of course, it could be coincidental, but I'm thinking she flipped after acupuncture. I also went to the chiropractor, but I think she had flipped before then. My thoughts were, these couldn't hurt and they might help. The only drawback is the expense, but it was worth it to me to try to avoid a c section and I used my FSA account...

So my baby was breech from weeks 32 to 34 and then she flipped on her own. I did lots of hands and knees, lying on my left side and all kinds of stuff I read on Spinning Babies. It worked.

At the time, I figured if she hadn't flipped I would go for an ECV. But now that I've had a csection, I would just schedule a section. It was way easy.

If it were me I would opt for the c section most likely but I fully support all options for others and I know many do deliver breech babies vaginally with no issue.
