The Amanda Todd story makes my heart break.
I really hope that no child has to deal with what she went through.
If you haven't heard about her story, you can see it here.

I heard about this yesterday, didn't watch the video though (I know I'd be a mess if I saw it).
It's so sad what she went through!
I experienced some pretty extreme bullying in school and am so thankfully it was before cyber-bullying was prevalent... I could've easily ended up like this poor girl.
I hope my kids NEVER experience this.... on either side of the fence (being bullied or seeing bullying).
My heart absolutely breaks for her family. ='(

Wow. Just watched this. Does anyone know if any of the schools or other authorities took any action against some of those kids? I know she didn't want to press charges, but a lot of schools are adopting a zero tolerance policy for bullying... Plus, spreading her picture qualifies as child pornography... Just curious and hoping that those kids have some repercussions...

Wow that story is quite unreal.
Does anyone know why there are more bullying related suicides lately? Because this was pretty much unheard of when I was a teen, but now its becoming more and more common. Is it because the bullies are getting worse? or because of the reach of social media?

So incredibly sad! What makes me really sick is that the comments on some of the YouTube videos of this are horrible. The poor girl has killed herself because of all this and you're still going to say she deserved to die and judge her morality?!?!?! She's a kid who made a mistake, and it makes me feel physically ill that even still some people won't relent and let up. It makes me think of "The one without sin can cast the first stone."
@Mrsbells: I think a lot of it is the prevalence of internet use, texting, etc. among younger and younger kids. If something like that happened when I was a kid, one town's kids might bully the kid in question, but if they moved schools, it would be really hard for a person to track down the kid and all their friends, etc. Plus, it's so easy to disseminate information, photos, etc., that these things go viral and kids feel like they will never be able to escape it.
It all makes me wander how to protect my little ones from this kind of stuff.

@Mrsbells: I have to agree with @Mrs. Blue. The fact that bullying no longer stays AT school makes a HUGE difference. There is ultimately no safe place to be yourself without worry or ridicule or abuse. I know for myself, if I had still been harassed at home things could've ended up alot worse for me.
