We were gifted a Bumbo seat and still need a bouncy seat and a play gym. We are thinking of returning the Bumbo seat in exchange for one of the other items. Did you love or hate your Bumbo seat?

I got a bebepod later on and still use it today at past 1 year for feedings! I would exchange it for the other items and get the bebepod or bumbo later on. Because you'll be storing it for at least 4 months and they're on NBD regularly.
ETA: we use it in lieu of a high chair bc the bebepod straps to the bottom and back of chairs.

It didn't work for LO because her legs were too chunky. I think it's a hit or miss though.... some people love it.

I would return it and get one of the other items. If you can pick up a cheap or used bumbo do that.

@T.H.O.U.: oh yes, there are bumbos on my local resale groups all the time for like dirt cheap. Good point.

I'd skip it. We got ours as a hand me down but I would have been pissed if we paid for one, or kept one we could have exchanged for something more useful. M used the bumbo maybe 5 times total? Both our bouncy seat and our activity mat have seen waaaaaay more use.

We have a mamas and papas snug chair and still use it after 1 year. It was great for when we started purees and we take it places so he's got some place to eat. The really good thing about it, is that it fits to a higher age my 3 year old nephew fits in it no problem and loves eating in it when he's over

It would have been a skip for us. We borrowed one and DD wasn't a fan. The bouncy seat and play gym, on the other hand, we used for many months.

Return it. I got one for free and im so glad we didnt pay for it. We hardly used it.

Skip it, for sure. We were given a hand me down one from our friends and I'm thankful I didn't pay for it since LO didn't much care for it one way or another.

Skip it! I had the bumbo and the tray, and it was such a pain in the neck, we sold it!

We didn't use ours much, but my mom used it as a high chair at her house for a while. I think we might use it more when we have a seond baby because our hands will be more full and we'll need more safe places to put the baby.

@sarbear: We have this one too, love it!! Got it on sale, and so glad we have it!!

We're skipping it! I always think babies look so awkwardly propped up in it....

@Beebug: so are we! I honestly don't know what we would have done without it when we go to people's houses without high chairs! I can see us using it for a long time still

Skip. Honestly, our LO sat up pretty early on his own (4.5 months), so we only used ours for maybe a month or so. Not worth it, in my opinion.

Skip! Ours is currently in the basement after a handful of uses. We used the activity mat and bouncy seat way more!

@sarbear: @Beebug: I just deleted the bumbo from my registry & added the mamas and papas snug seat!

@sarbear: Do you still use the insert, or into regular seat now?
@lawbee11: Awesome!!
Yah, I won't lie, I take it into the bathroom with me and sit LO in it, we use it all around the house, and yah.....I am sure we'd get by without it, but I'm super glad we have it! LO is sitting up on her own now, but I still use enough to be happy we have it!

I say skip! We used it just a couple of times. My LO is quite the chunk and his legs would get stuck lol
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
Skip - we also only used a couple times, and like @running elley, our LO's chunky thighs would always get stuck. If you want one, I'd look on Craigslist or see if anyone has one that you can borrow.

Skip it, i found it fairly pointless. when LO first started purees, I fed her in her BabyBjorn Babysitter. Once she outgrew that, I moved her to the high chair. By that time she was divebombing out of the bumbo:) It was good for a cute picture or two but otherwise pointless.

I don't like them. I think they actually hinder core strength.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: Really? Unless used in excess maybe? Used in appropriate settings/durations I can't imagine they're hindering anything worth worrying over?

@Beebug: Just my experience that babies I've seen who use Bumbo sit on their own at a later age.
For us it wouldn't have been useful anyway considering that our girls both sat so early!
honeydew / 7444 posts
Skip.
We borrowed our friend's bumbo, and thank goodness we did, because LO only used it for a few days. She kept leaning forward, which caused her to spit up milk EVERY time she sat in it.
The jumperoo was just so much better.

@Beebug: we still use the insert. My nephew even sits in it with the insert still.
@lawbee11: woot! Hope you like it!

@sarbear: Us too. One of the best baby purchases we made! The snug is awesome. My son is almost 13 months and we still use it every day for lunch time at work.

skip...I bought one and while it was good to use for about a month, and we used it before we bought a high chair, I think it was kind of a waste..!

Thanks for this thread! My shower is this weekend, and I had registered for a Bumbo... based on all the replies, I deleted it from my registry
