So I don't know that I've ever really inspected my tongue all that much before, but I have a bump on it that hurts (like I bit it) and I was checking that out and noticed that way in the back, my tongue is covered in bumps! They aren't painful and I don't think I would've noticed them if I wasn't sticking my tongue out as far as it would go and even then they are hard to see! Are these bumps normal???

I get painful bumps on my tongue occasionally. They hurt a bit but usually go away in a day or 2. If they continue to hurt for 5 days I'd see a doctor.
If the bumps on the back of your tongue don't hurt I'd assume they are normal. I know my tongue isn't perfectly smooth.

I have bumps on the back of my tongue. I believe those are normal! But sometimes one will get inflamed. It will go away in a few days. I get bumps on the tip of my tongue once every month or so. Unfortunately I think it's a form of herpes that is not harmful but just annoying. Wagon Sr. never got these bumps until after he met me... :T I always get them when I get less sleep or more stress.
