In the What's for Dinner thread some one mention they were making a bunless hamburger. I wondered if that was the same as hamburger steak. I tried googling it and I'm not sure.
I know such a silly question.
Do you think they are the same thing or different?

I feel like hamburger steaks normally have a sauce or gravy over them while a bun less hamburger would just be a patty with condiments.

I never eat hamburger buns- I have celiac disease and hate the fake ones. Now I sautee a little kale, toss it with red wine vinegar, and eat my burger in top of that. It's really good! Hamburger buns are one thing I don't miss!

I've had bunless hamburger at Red Robin. Instead of bread they put it between lettuce. I've never heard of hamburger steaks.

@bluestriped bee: So funny I have never really "heard" of bunless hamburgers. I have seen hamburgers with lettuce wraps instead of buns but I never heard of it being called bunless.
I have had hamburger steaks since I was a little kid! My parents made it a lot for us growing up.
