At least 2x weekly, I drop LO off at daycare and DH picks her up, which means we both have to have carseats in our cars. They're so freakin' expensive though! Any recommendations on a less expensive option for the 2nd car (Subaru Forester).

Our daycare has us leave the carseat at daycare. We just keep a base in each car. Way cheaper! Can you ask if they will let you do that?

We also leave the carseat at daycare and just have a base in each car. It's much easier that way!

We also left the infant seat at daycare and had a base in each car. We bought 2 convertible seats when LO was 7 months.

Like the others we leave the infant seat at school. But once she graduates to a convertible we'll need to buy two. I think we will go with Britax. They aren't cheap which is a bummer but since safety is so important car seats are an item that I'm ok spending a lot on.

I just bought a second Diono Radian for my DH's truck. $400 bucks again hurt the wallet a bit, but it needed to be done.

We got a Safety First Alpha Omega for DH's car as the second seat. We keep the Britax Boulevard in my car for regular use.
ETA: she is out of infant seats now so leaving a seat behind isn't an option for us. I can never get them installed tightly enough.

Thanks guys. With our infant seat we can leave it at daycare, but i'm trying to figure out what to do when she transitions to a convertible seat.

@MsMini: How much space does the Radian take up when rear facing (front to back space)? My car has a pretty small back seat, but this is the convertible seat I am thinking of buying. I'd love your feedback, especially since you seem to like it enough that you're buying a second!

@reyorra: We were deciding between the Radian and Britax seats for our sedan. Our backseat isn't huge. Both fit, but the Radian was just okay. It's really tall... Really. The Britax fit much better. We're going to keep the Britax as our rear- facing convertible. When #2 comes along and is ready to move out of the infant seat, we will put him/her in the Britax and buy a Diono for LO to forward facing.

When she was younger, we kept a base in each car... but once we needed a convertible carseat we had the expensive Britax Marathon in our minivan (which is what we use most often), and bought a carseat from Costco (Safety 1st Alpha Omega - about $60), which has served us well! All carseats have to meet the same minimum safety standards.
