@babybean404: we have those and they work well, but we haven't removed them yet so I don't know about the finish. We only put them on a cheap free standing pantry cabinet that we don't care about as much.

Do you have knobs on the cabinets? We have kiscords holding the double cabinets together. Our drawers are a little hard to pull open even for us so we haven't done anything with them. And the single cabinets we just got the inside hook things.

The kiscords might not stand up to the most aggressive cabinet sneaks, but my LO doesn't mess with them too much and they have worked fine.

We just used the old school latches on our wood cabinets. That way any damage was on the inside of the cabinets.

I would worry about the varnish too. We had some old school locks or just ties but we gave up and just taught LO to stay out, and moved anything unsafe.

We moved everything hazardous to one cabinet and put the interior latches there so any damage won't show. He can get into all the other cabinets and make a mess, but it's nothing that will hurt him.
