LO has been running a fever since yesterday evening. It got up to 102.6 at 3:30 this morning, went down with a dose of Advil, but has been climbing up again in the past few hours. There is little to no congestion, no rash (a bit of a diaper rash), normal poops, and she has been eating decently, but not as much as normal. She's playing we'll as long as we keep up the medicine.
I've called the pediatrician, and we're just monitoring the situation. She thinks she's coming down with something. We have orders to go to the hospital should the fever get to 103.
She has been teething, but 102 is pretty high for a teething fever.
So, I have 2 questions.
1. Do you think this serious?
2. Would you go to a wedding/reception today if you were me? Really good friends, DH is a groomsman, and grandparents would be keeping LO.
It's hard to say if it's serious or not. Baby could be coming down with something, or it may be roseola (high fever for 3-ish days with no other symptoms, then baby breaks out in a rash that usually isn't uncomfortable). For me, going to the wedding would depend on baby's age. Under 3 months, I wouldn't go. Between 3 months and a year, I would only go to the wedding if the grandparents' house was close to the wedding or ER, and I would ask them to check baby's temp every hour, closely monitor baby, and update me periodically (and of course let me know as soon as anything dramatic changed). The older the LO, the less intense I would be about updates, but that's just me.
