I need a new passport, so Dan took my picture today. In my last passport I was smiling, so I smiled in the new picture. I went to check the specs on the website & saw that they require a "neutral expression." Anyone get a passport photo taken recently? Will they accept my photo if I'm smiling?

Got my photo taken at Costco and I think they told me not to smile. -

We weren't allowed. Even K, who was 4 months old at the time, had her photo retaken until she had a 'neutral' expression.

Oh weird I had no idea. Last time I got a passport I was 14 and was smiling of course that was 10 years ago.

I think a little smirk would be okay, but not like a full toothy smile. I'm not smiling in mine.

I was told I could smile so long as no teeth were showing. I just did mine a few weeks ago.

DH just had his passport pic taken yesterday at AAA and they said no smiling. I'm sort of half-smiling in mine, from 2009.

i was smiling in mine! i think i got it in 2009. i didn't know it was supposed to be a neutral expression until we got a passport for my LO and my husband told me that i wasn't supposed to be smiling in mine.

The post office took my photo in 2008, and I smiled!

I have a big smile in mine. When I got home from getting it taken my DH informed me that I shouldn't have. Anyway, i sent it in anyway and got my renewed passport like 2 weeks ago. No one stopped my photo from going through!

omg! I had no idea you weren't supposed to smile in a passport picture! I have a small smile in mine.
