Go. When? How long did it last? Did you intervene (sleep train)?
LO will be 17 weeks on Monday and is currently sleeping 11 hrs with 1 night waking to eat.

We had a decent stretch from about 5 weeks to 6 months...then the swaddle wasn't working and all hell broke loose for the next 5 months until we successfully sleep trained.

14 weeks for us and it sucked donkey balls. I already told you about our experience with sleep training. I have a feeling we need are going to need to retrain once this other tooth makes its appearance.
11 hours with 1 wake up is great.

15 weeks...and last til we sleep trained at 6.5 months. Hopefully you skip it!

It didn't really happen here in any noticeable way. We were t two wakings around then and then went to one shortly after, had two for a few weeks at 8 months, and then he dropped it right before 9 months and goes 11ish hours straight. I sleep trained with no cry sleep solution starting around 5 months to work with him on falling asleep on his own instead of being rocked and it was a positive experience.
ETA I agree with smurfette; 11 hours with one wake is great for that age I think!

Thanks all - why am I surrounded IRL by people whose babies sleep 12 hrs with no wakeups at 12 weeks?! It's given me a totally distorted sense of reality
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@JoJoGirl: haha! Me too! I felt like I was the only mom in Switzerland with a son that didn't sleep! Of the 5 women I knew that gave birth around the same time, mine was the most wakeful!

@looch: Seriously! They think I am anti-sleep-training, which I'm not, I just think she's still hungry for her feed (which is usually after 8.5-9 hrs of sleep). I've tried putting her back down with her paci instead of feeding her and she still gets up to eat..

It started to go down hill around 14 weeks (3.5 months or so) and lasted until 6 months when we finally sleep trained. Sleep training (CIO) was something we really weren't planning on doing but everyone (mommy, daddy, AND baby) were miserable so it was best for everyone.

14 weeks but it only lasted a few days. I think we went ahead and swaddle weaned during that time since her sleep was already messed up. It was over in a week and she was swaddled weaned and back to STTN. (But we have a really really good baby as far as sleep goes)

@autumn865: Whatever works. I keep waiting for my cue to CIO but it doesn't seem to make sense yet for 1 waking.

Ours started at 3.5 mos and lasted just about 4 weeks. She went from sleeping 8-9 hrs through the night to up every 2 hrs. We didn't sleep train. I figured she was a great sleeper before and it would come back. Then one night she slept again like magic and gained an hour or 2 so now she sleeps 10-11 hrs. During the regression she started rolling both directions and gained a few pounds so I knew it was a spurt/wonder week thing. We also had a bit of a 6 month regression but our only intervention was switching her to her crib in her room from the p n'p in our room after a few weeks and she's STTN again since the night we switched. She also got up on hands and knees and rocked in that period so ot sure if it was that or that she needed more support/room/quiet of the crib and nursery.

It was around 16/17 weeks and lasted about 2 weeks, for night time sleep. Her naps went to crap around 14 weeks and are possibly getting better now, 5 weeks later. Not sure if that's related!!

@JerricaBenton: @sslm: Thanks to you both! We are going to try (again) to get her in the crib this weekend from the RnP so I'm sure sleep is about to go to shit, even if it wouldn't have otherwise.

It never happened at four months with my toddler but we had a rough week around 11 months when she started standing in her crib!
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
It only lasted a week or so for us, but right after that is when she started constantly rolling over in her sleep and everything went to hell and never recovered until we sleep trained at 7 months.

@autumnlove: Standing is TURRIBLE!!!! I have no idea how she manages to do it in a sleep sack....

@PrincessBaby: standing and crying for 45 minutes...it was awful!

I think it hit around 14 weeks for us? It's been kind of hit and miss, but progressively getting worse. But now we're in the trenches. LO is 21 weeks old and I am sleep training now.

@JoJoGirl: Good luck with the transition. LO was definitely ready but I was reluctant because I am a nut mainly, but things had been going so well and it was nice to be able to see her in the night. I know it was the right choice though, because she slept like a log the first night we put her in the crib so it must have been so much more comfortable and quieter for her.

I think it was around 18-20 weeks and his sleep has never been the same since. He went from sleeping 8-10 hours to waking every couple of hours. We never sleep trained. He's 10.5 months and still wakes every 3ish hours.

@JerricaBenton: Well that's good to hear, I am so terrified! She's been napping great in her crib and in the PnP at daycare so I'm trying to be optimistic..
pomegranate / 3872 posts
@JoJoGirl: You're one step ahead of us then! LO is still a swing napper - that's our next step! I'm sure you'll be fine!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
That sounds really positive! Don't let my experience scare you
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@blackbird: Um duh, I'm traumatized by your experience
And ours - the only night we tried to put her in the crib she was wide awake 10:30pm-2:30am for no reason.. let's hope that was a fluke..

@JoJoGirl: Did you see this thread? Mrs Blue gave pointers on the transition from RnP to Crib

@jojogirl, I did the trick Mrs. blue gave and it went A LOT better last night! It really did. Well, you know this. but that's what I did!

@JoJoGirl: oh geeze yeah.... At her worst she was up every hour.... All night lol

14 weeks for us.... it lasted until 11.5months when we sleep trained! She had good and bad nights. The worst was 14-20 weeks when she woke up 3-6 times a night. Then she got on a schedule waking up twice a night, every night and screaming like a banshee! Horrible!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
It started around 19 weeks I think. Still going strong at 21 weeks. I want to cry.

Ds had a few nts of wakeups at 3.5 mths. Went back to sttn 11+ hrs no waking after five ish days? He was teething too
grapefruit / 4291 posts
We dodged the four month regression but are still dealing with the six month regression at almost eleven months!
I gave up expecting Miss A to STTN and life got much easier for us, I'm not in to sleep training and we occasionally get a solid 8-9 hour stretch of sleep so I'm hopeful that A wont be night waking forever
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
For us it hit right around 4 months but she was a crap sleeper to begin with so it's hard to tell. But the worst of it lasted 3.5 months. She was waking every hour on the hour and only wanted me. We tried sleep training twice but it did not work for us.
At least at the of it we came out with a baby that sTTN for about 3 months!
clementine / 943 posts
No 4 month regression. We did get some disruption when teething kicked in (at 6 months) and when separation anxiety hit (at 8 months). We sleep trained at 10 months and now he sleeps.
I think if your baby can go all night without eating, sleep training is a wonderful, amazing thing. You're giving your child the skill of being able to put themself back to sleep on their own, which is a necessary skill.
