...when your house isn't clean?
I can't and I hate it! I really wish that I could! I try (a lot lol) but I'm always stressed out instead of relaxing thinking about all of the things I should be doing instead.

I have the same problem! I just went and did the dishes during a tv show, lol.
pomegranate / 3105 posts
I think that may actually be one of the few things that DOESN'T stress me out.
pomegranate / 3768 posts
Nope, I hate it! I get so excited when DH offers to take DD out on a long stroll so I can CLEAN!
coconut / 8681 posts
And my DH doesn't get it!!! When we have people over I want to clean up right after they leave so I can finally unwind but he wants to leave it until morning. It drives me crazy!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Nope. I cannot handle a dirty house. DH tells me to relax and do it later....he doesn't understand how much it bothers me!!

My house is always pretty dirty at the end of the day! Once the kids are down I relaxxxxxxxx.
I clean first thing in the morning

Nope, it drives me crazy! I've relaxed my standards a lot since having two little ones rampaging through the house, but I just can't relax when things are messy.

We clean up every night, right wrote Chloe goes to bed. We've made it part of her bedtime routine & sing the clean up song.
I guess that means neither of us can relax in a dirty house!
Our kitchen is a mess right now and we are both going nuts trying to get it done before bedtime!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
Yup, I've gotten to the point where I'll just clean up when I feel like it and it doesnt really bother me anymore.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
Haha... Yup. As long as nothing is DIRTY messy doesn't bother me. Tiredness always wins out.
papaya / 10570 posts
No chance!! If I can see mess I need to clean it. I can ignore things I can't see for an evening but I could never wind down with mess in my eye line.

In case you need proof... This is the scene in front of me while I sit on my butt and watch tv. (Hubs is making dinner).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Yes and no. Sometimes it doesn't bother me but other times I have to get it done.
bananas / 9118 posts
Lol, you are nesting girl! Yes, I'm pretty good at sitting on my butt when things aren't done. If I waited to get everything done before I relaxed, I'd never sit down!
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
These days? YES. If the baby's asleep, I am as relaxed as I can be! Housework be damned!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I don't do much anymore, other than laundry and picking up my son's toys. I just came back from straightening up the playroom.
So I guess that makes my answer no!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
I sure can but I've never been a hyper "clean" person so clutter has never bothered me.
persimmon / 1304 posts
Nope, can't relax. My parents offered to come over this afternoon, but I chose to go to them just so I didn't feel compelled to give LO to them and start cleaning like a mad woman.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
No not at all, I'm actually super anal about this. DH doesn't get it though. I always grew up in a clean house though and he didn't so maybe that's why.
papaya / 10473 posts
It stresses me COMPLETELY out, said the girl who will make her bed 5 minutes before I get in it, just so it gets made that day.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@grizz: I can't get in bed if the sheets aren't fixed first!
papaya / 10473 posts
@sorrycharlie: They feel all loose and weird and I can't fall asleep! My husband thinks I should talk to a professional about this... Lol
coconut / 8475 posts
No...I need therapy. I am a clean freak and it is exhausting because my mind is always on overdrive about the house!
pomegranate / 3983 posts
Yes because with a toddler the house is never perfectly tidy but sometimes I need to relax so I'm teaching myself to ignore it.
pomegranate / 3759 posts
No. And I get even more stressed out when LO pulls out everything I just put away. Or DH walks in the house with dirty feet. I could just cry!
honeydew / 7687 posts
@MsLipGloss: ditto.
I used to be a neat freak but honestly.. it's just not an option any more. I care more about (and enjoy) baking and cooking from scratch and there are only so many hours in a day. I do a cleaning schedule now which means nothing is ever 100% clean but I'm getting better about not caring!
nectarine / 2765 posts
@Running Elley: Exaaaactly! The moment guests walk out the door I want the house back in order...I can't sit down and relax til everything is back in its place & DH seriously couldn't care less.
The same goes for unpacking after a trip, I do it immediately & DH can (and has) leave a suitcase unpacked for weeks. Drives me insane.
pomegranate / 3580 posts
I used to not care, but the last year or two it drives me bonkers to think about the mess and that it's not clean! Although I definitely don't always go with the urge to clean, heh.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@sorrycharlie: @grizz: I am a freak about sheets that are straight and even. And blankets that are folded evenly. It may be the only thing I'm truly OCD about.
