I used to be able to, but it's really hard because my arms get sore/tired really quickly. If they didn't, I'd be able to. As it is, it comes out pretty haphazard.
Can you French braid your own hair?

I used to be able to, but I'm pretty sure the last time I did was in college...so about 10 years ago! Eeeps!

I've never known how and can barely do a regular braid. I wish I knew how to do those cute front braids also, the technique reminds me of a French braid.

Yup, I was in color guard in high school and we always had to have our hair in a French braid. I got really good at it!

My arms get tired too! I just don't think my hair looks that good up and I can't make it look cute/easy/relaxed...my French braids always end up super tight and severe looking...like an 80s gymnast that needs their hair up out of their face

I can do those cute fishtail braids on other people but don't have the arm strength to do it to my own hair

@Boogs: oh those are the easiest, if you can french braid. Since they're shorter, my arms don't get as tired. Sadly though, I don't have the right forehead to pull off that style. It just doesn't look quite right.

Yes, the ”innie” and ”outie” kind! Kind of a wasted skill, until French braids come back into fashion, lol!

I can, but it doesn't always come out well. I think it's easier when my hair is wet. If I'm trying to braid it, though, I usually have gotten to the point where I don't care what it looks like!

I can and do those front headband type braids sometimes. Haven't done my whole head in a long long time.

I can do my own, but it looks pretty bad. I can do someone else's ok, but I'm much better doing a horse's tail! (had horses growing up)

I can do my own, I used to do it a lot when I had to wear a hard hat at work. It looks awful if I do it on other people though.

yes--and it looks really good! I can do regular French braids, I can French braid my bangs like the pics that were posted above, fish-tail, inside out braid, etc.
I don't even know how I learned... I feel like I have always known. I think I taught myself on my barbies when I was really little.

Yes! Easier to do my own than someone else's since I learned by practicing on myself.

I can curl and straighten my hair and that is the extent of my hairstyling skills
There are 4 girls in this house, yikes!!I always wished I could, I was always the end of the "french braid train" at volleyball games! I've even watched you tube videos and I still can't do it.
