It's raining cats & dogs here in LA and I need a pair of rain boots! I've thought about getting some the past several years, but since it rains so infrequently here I've never gotten any. I want a good, comfortable pair that will last a long time. Got any recommendations??

I just bought hunters this season and I agree with a PP who said they are a pain! I almost never reach for them even when it IS raining because they are so hard to get on and off and are so heavy (maybe I have especially big calves).

@raspberries: I had those Savoys before and
them! Till I actually cracked them and then they were sold out. 
I wore them a ton though, especially traveling. @BeachMama: I'm a Hunter fan as well!
I've seen some at Nordstrom Rack and heard Costco has them for a pretty good deal too! And isn't the rain a change of pace? It's supposed to rain a lot this year - El Nino!

I also love my Hunters. After buying cheaper ones from Gap JCrew etc I finally splurged. I find them extremely comfortable and easy to wear, but I have the shorts, not tall ones. They run big and are whole sizes only.

@snowjewelz: Another vote for Kamik! I'm short and their shorter mid calf style works better for me. I think they are overall lighter than Hunter's and not so hard to put on.

Hunters are awesome but so pricey. Especially since we get only a few days of rain here in LA. I got a pair of Capelli rainboots for $20 from TJ Maxx years ago. Still going strong. In fact I see rainboots a lot at all the discount stores like Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, etc.

@autumnlove: YES! Another vote for Target. I've had the same rubber rainboots I got from Target 5+ years ago and they're going strong... especially since I live in SoCal and it never rains, so it's not like I get a super ton use out of them.
Costco.com is selling Hunters for $80 including shipping.

@Andrea: I had a pair of Burberrys years ago and I lost them! It still upsets me to think about. Definitely the best rainboots, but more on the pricy side.

I'm short and the tall hunters are too tall. If you go with them id get the short!

@alohaorchid: oh no, that is so sad! I think it is worth paying a little more since you don't buy rain boots all the time? I've had them for 7 years now and they look brand new! I used to walk all over NYC in them. They are so light and comfy.

Aigle is nice and classic. I used to have Hunters, but sold them after 4 years. They were really great quality!

I used to get target rainboots every year (because they wouldn't hold up from the previous year) and finally I bought a pair of hunters that have been great year after year!
I wore them a ton though, especially traveling.
