Can you skip pages in a book while reading to your LO, without them noticing? Or at least skip a few sentences from longer books? My girls have so many books, the only ones they have memorized are the shorter ones, which I don't need to skip parts on. The longer books though, like the Disney storybooks are just too long so I skip sentences, and they don't notice. I probably won't be able to do that much longer, though!

Ha! DD is only 20 months old and so is kind of easy to trick on this. Usually she's the one who turns the page too quickly or skips, though...she's very picky about her books. I will admit to skipping over a few pages at a time on our third read-through of "Go Dog Go" last night, though...

DD is the one that skips pages! There are some "favorite" pages on certain books that she'll just look at and comment on the whole time.

Oh my gosh no. My DD has all of her favourite books memorized. I can't even skip a word or leave out a "he said" or "She said". She corrects me all the time.

Nope, I just read the first half of words in the sentences and have my son finish the rest of the words, while pointing to the words so he associates the word visually and auditory. Or lately he likes to "read" to me or retell the story that he memorized. But it's also nice to go deeper and ask questions about the characters actions and feelings, that way it's not as boring for me.

We can't skip pages or any major plot points but I can and do definitely summarize/abbreviate often!
