...to a wedding if you are not the bride? What if the dress has a pattern on it?

That dress is way too white.
I think the only acceptable time is when it is specified by the theme (ie. the invite tells you to).

I wouldn't, it's much easier to just find a colored dress. Not worth having people whisper about you all night.

I think if you have to ask the answer is no. (Not YOU you, general you )

That's what I thought you guys would say! I wish the dress came in a different color...I LOVE the style and cut, I tried it on and it's super flattering but of course I would not want to make a faux pas!
Someone find me a colored dress that looks like this!!

I don't think so. My mom does this all the time, and it drives me crazy. She even wore off white to my wedding.

@Ginabean3: Maybe try Asos or Modcloth? They both have tons of cute a-line dresses like that!

I think white with big huge colorful patterns is fine! not that dress.. you should get it anyway though

How well do you know the bride? That's clearly not a bridal dress (or even a 2nd reception dress) and it has stripes. If I knew the bride well, I'd email her. I wore a cream dress to a wedding this past weekend and no one thought I was stealing any thunder.

If I was the bride I honestly wouldn't care less. But it's my personal rule to not wear white to weddings just to be respectful of other brides who may care.

Not that dress. It's too cute! I once wore a white dress with an all over gold metallic print. My SIL wore a white dress with red and black flowers on it to my wedding. I'd say the dresses were mostly white, but not detracting from the bride.

Nope! I would only if it has other colors, not just white. But when in doubt, I don't wear it.

You can wear white if the bride has asked for guests to wear white, or if it's a non-western wedding where the bride doesn't wear white.

@Ginabean3: also, many wedding dresses have patterns on them these days. One of my friend's wedding dresses is a pintuck dress with a very similar pattern to what you posted.

My SIL wore white to my wedding and I couldn't care less! It is n't like it was a wedding dress or like anyone would be confused as to who the bride was

I have one similar to that from anthro (same top half), but in red. Looks like they don't have it anymore. What about this one?

@BananaPancakes: great suggestion! I'll have to go to the store and check it out! Thank you!
