You should get back pay starting after the two week Grace period. I filled my online app out in June and started receiving right away after the two weeks. However, I did go online and fill out the reporting record. You might have opted out of that though. Double check and make sure you don't need to submit that. As soon as I submitted that, I received my first pay the next day. For a lot of my friends it took a few weeks to get their EI, but they were always back paid. Usually your first deposit is for a one week period and your next are for two weeks. Hope you get it soon. Just call if you're concerned!

@char54: I have to do reports because I fall under the self employed category. Yours might be taking longer because your school board had to send in your record of employment. Good luck! I am confident you'll get back pay.

You will get back paid. You don't get paid for the two week waiting period.

Mine got delayed because my HR department never sent in my ROE, but I didn't know this right away. I found this out as they gave me a message on my service Canada account online.

I would double check that everything got submitted correctly.

It really sucks having to wait and not knowing why.

they say they take 28 days to process your claim, plus the 2 week waiting period.

the 28 days is back-paid though.

I filed mine July 19, and its still processing, as well. I think it takes awhile for your ROE to get there (whether you or your employer submit it).
Hadn't heard about the 28 day processing period though! Yikes - I hope its a little quicker than that!

Service canada is terrible but so are most federal programs! The entire year I tried to call them and was NEVER able to get through.

@delight: not to thread jack, but what did you have to do to receive self employed benefits? I tried reading on their website and it says you have to apply 12 months prior to your leave to receive this?
