I've had 2 different people tell me about the free deal you can get on https://www.carseatcanopy.com, plus it's posted on the November deals thread. I am trying to avoid unnecessary stuff; my thought was that I can always clip an A+A blanket on if I really need a cover...
Does anyone have a car seat canopy? Do you use it regularly? What for? (sun? cold? privacy?) Is it something I want to make room for in a really tiny casa or can I skip it and not miss it at all?

Ooh, that looks so soft and cozy for the baby! We never bought one, but then again we never bought all of those newborn headrest inserts everyone else had and i felt like a bad mom. We always draped blankets over the car seat, but if it's free i'd totally get it.

Unnecessary. I always just threw a blanket over her, an A+A in the summer and a heavier one in the winter.
Now, stroller footmuff? Necessary.

@caffeinated: It's free, but shipping is like $12ish--which is about the cost of an A+A blanket that I could use for so many other things!

Nah, we just use a blanket (when the sun is in his face in the car or on walks).

@zippylef: Why is a footmuff necessary? I have no experience, please enlighten me! (Do you live somewhere cold? Do you go on lots of walks? Is a blanket not enough? I don't have a kid yet, I'm so green)

@tororojo: A blanket is plenty, but I find it a PITA to tuck the blankets in the stroller. She kicks them off, they fall and get caught in the wheels, then they're filthy... it's just really annoying. I live in England, so it is at least chilly a lot. We do walk quite a bit.

Ha - it's probably totally unnecessary - I bought one anyway, even though I have A&A blankets. I guess I was thinking about a way to make sure people didn't touch the baby if we were out and about - not so worried about cold.

@prettylizy: We're using a BundleMe on our stroller now. So worth it! Walks are so much more pleasant when I'm not stopping to pick up blankets and LO doesn't have a bajillion layers on.

I got one and it's so soft! We haven't used it as she isn't here yet, but since LO is due in December, we thought it would be nice for covering up her carseat when we take her from the car to church, that sort of thing. They one we have is really pretty too, so we could just use it as a blanket if we removed the buttons.

I actually got one of those "free" car seat canopies and I love it! It was worth the $13 shipping. The way I see it is that I paid $13 for it with free shipping. It's nice and thick and I think muffles noise pretty well, especially at restaurants. So when my 7-month-old needs to nap in his car seat while we're out I just close it and he knows to take a nap. It's also good in the winter when it's cold out. And it doesn't get blown away like how blankets do when it's windy out. My only complaint is the fabric selection. I'm not a fan of any of them so picked the black and white with a dark grey interior. It's probably the most neutral of all the fabrics b/c every time I see one it's the same pattern as ours. So to answer your question, I use it for sun, cold, and privacy (naps). It really doesn't take up much room b/c it'll be on your car seat most of the time anyway. I do remove it to wash (and hang dry) when I feel like it needs a washing b/c my LO likes to chomp on it before he naps.

As a fellow February mama, I bought one! An A+A blanket will be nice to tuck around her in the seat, but definitely won't protect against the wind and cold in February. I refuse to be stuck in the house all the time after she comes, so I snatched one up right after I got my carseat. I obviously haven't been out with it yet, but the quality is awesome, and it attaches nicely to the seat - doesn't add bulk or become cumbersome.

I loved my car seat canopy, the A&A blanket lets a lot of light through, so LO wouldn't sleep with that draped over top. He will take a good nap when we are shopping with the car seat canopy though!
