I got into a car accident this week (not my fault someone T-Boned me) so I get to purchase new car seats! Looking for some advice on what to get. I have a 2.9 year old boy (28lbs) and a 1 year old girl 22 lbs. I have a budget of $300 per seat (that's what insurance will reimburse) what would you get?

Forgot about that! 1 year old is and will be for a long long time! Almost 3 year old is forward facing.

We have a Foonf and a Nextfit. No complaints. She is almost three and could still be RF in both.

The first time he used these he said he finally understood how someone can have an opinion on carseats. They are much easier to use than our Britax were.

For your son I would look at a Graco Nautilus, Graco Tranzitions, or Britax Frontier
For your daughter - Graco 4ever, Chicco Nextfit, or Britax Boulevard Clicktight.

We have really liked our Recaro Performance Rides...as long as you don't have to take them in and out a lot. Really comfy and easy to use and we are still rear-facing at 3 and 25 lbs.

@cheert16: I think it would be a bit overkill to get a 4ever for an already forward facing kid, yes. The 4ever is a great seat for extended rear facing so it would seem silly to pay so much for that feature if you aren't using it.

Yeah I would replace our NextFit in a heartbeat! Don't know about the big kid however.
