I am looking for some facts and research around car seat safety (particularly infant seats). I know a few things but I don't have any research or facts to support them. Before I pass it along I want to make sure they are facts and not just things I have read online. I find the website car-seats.org to be very good. A few things I would like verification if anyone can help:

- Installing a carseat with LATCH or a seatbelt is equally safe as long as they are proper installs
- Installing a carseat with a base or just the carseat is equally safe as long as they are proper installs (I understand that the advantage of a base is not having to constantly install which makes sense).
- Carseats should not touch the back of the front seats
- Middle back is the safest position
- Children should stay rear facing until they outgrow the RFing limits (AAP recommendation) and can be up to 50% safer than FFing.
