I absolutely agree with her general sentiment, but I'd also like to see a woman on our paper currency.

I think her explanation is at odds with her answer. Women make up more than half of this country. So why shouldn't half of our money (or at least one bill) represent that?

I'd prefer to see a woman on the $20 bill instead of the $10, just because Hamilton founded the financial system in America!

I get what she's saying and I don't disagree but it's kind of like the people saying not to take down confederate flags because it won't change anything and it's just a gesture (not an exact comparison I know). Well sure, it's a gesture, but lots of visible changes like that start to change public perception over the long haul.

I thought what she said was absurd. The reason why there are no women on the bills is not because there are no women worthy of that honour in the absence of them being a "special interest group", it's because women's contributions to history have been undervalued. It's not tokenism to right a wrong. Rosa Parks, for example, has certainly contributed enough to American society to warrant her face on a bill in her own right.

I don't think the design of our paper currency is a particularly pressing issue facing our country, and certainly not one that a future (or sitting) president needs to think too hard about. I think Fiorina was spot on about that.
@mrbee: Hamilton isn't going anywhere. Treasury says he's going to still be pictured on the $10 bill.

I disagree with her statement – moves to better represent our nation’s history and its important and impactful historical figures who have been and continue to be terribly underrepresented are not “token” moves: they are steps in the right direction.
Honestly, I was more dismayed by the other candidate’s responses – several votes for daughters and wives. Would they have named their sons or fathers had they been asked what man should be featured on new currency? Extremely doubtful. Totally juvenile and dismissive. Then of course there was Jeb who thinks a British PM is the perfect choice to be the face of the currency of the United States. facepalm

@honeybear: Yah but then the $10 bill would be split between a man and a woman - not fair to the newest person on our paper currency.
I'd rather see Jackson off the $20 bill entirely. He didn't like paper money or central banks, so I don't really get why he's even on there in the first place!

@mrbee: Indeed. Jackson would be rolling in his grave if he knew he were on paper money regulated by a central bank. I see it as a just punishment for blowing up the economy and financial system in 1837. His crimes against Native Americans requires a deeper degree of eternal torment.

Most of those answers were bizarre. Two of them didn't even choose American women. Bush's answer of Margeret Thatcher??? That's an answer you'd see on SNL or something. And the wife/mother/daughter answers make zero sense. Fiorini's answer summed up the ridiculous responses and was exactly what's wrong with the current Republica image with a lot of women . . . Calling women tokens.

I thought her answer was ridiculous. She made and excellent point that women are not a special interest group. However, that does NOT mean that we should not be taking our correct place in history, as reflected by the symbols we use.
Also, Jeb Bush and the guy who said Mother Theresa made me more angry than the guys who said their wife/mom. You can't think of a SINGLE AMERICAN WOMAN who merits recognition??? Are you kidding me???
I got a little ragey about it.
