Not sure if this should go under postpartum or your health...
Did anyone develop carpal tunnel syndrome postpartum? I had no issues during pregnancy. LO is 2.5 months old and I just noticed my right wrist aching for the past three days or so. Did it go away for you? I read on kellymom.com that it might only go away after weaning.

Just wanted to share, just incase it isnt carpal tunnel. My wrist started hurting at 3 month PP and it was "mommy thumb". I had never heard of it before I had it, man does it hurt!

Its where the tendon from the tumb to the wrist gets inflamed from overuse (picking up the baby wrong). My wrist would hurt all day long.

My right wrist has been hurting a lot. I thought it was from using my iPhone while nursing so much.

Nope, I was on the verge it was so bad. I happened to google looking for why my wrist might hurt and found mommy thumb. I did the "test" I found here http://solomonsseal.wordpress.com/2011/01/26/treating-mommy-thumb-de-quervains-tendonitis-with-solomons-seal/ and I couldnt it was so painful so I self diagnosted it lol. I decided to get a brace and I iced it twice a day and took advil and it cleared up quick.

@swedishfish: me! Ithought I had mommy thumb but because I didn't have the shooting pain with the test, it's carpal tunnel. L is 8 months this Saturday and I still have it. I sleep with wrist braces - and also wear them if I drive for long distances - and that helps.

@swedishfish: I am so relieved you posted about this! I developed carpal tunnel at the start of my 3rd trimester and was really worried b/c none of my family or friends ever experienced this. I was starting to think it could also be work related b/c of my background with working on the computer constantly (software engineering/ programming). But after my OB confirmed that it's a pregnancy symptom for some and also found some information online, I just took it with stride. I wore wrist braces to sleep during the 3rd trimester every night. My OB said it will go away after the baby comes. Almost 5 months pp and the pain is still lingering so I went to my PCP who said it's inflamed and gave me steroids and meds. I can't wait until the pain is completely gone without any medication. It's bearable for now but really annoying, especially at night when a sudden movement aggravates it so.

@swedishfish: I'm happy to find this thread already started. I knew carpal tunnel was a pregnancy symptom, but I didn't really experience during pregnancy. It has now arrived in full force about 5 weeks post partum for me. I sleep with a wrist brace on, but man does it kill when my baby whips his head unexpectedly and I don't have the brace on. I always take it off when I have the baby in hand so I don't get his neck with the velcro straps.
So, now that it's been three months since you posted - can you tell me that you're wrist is all better? Something to look forward to?

@sweetooth: My pain went away completely by 6 months! It has been a huge relief. Hope yours goes away very soon.
