First, I need to start off by saying that getting rid of our cat is not an option ... Please be kind with responses.
This morning, I saw my cat spray urine onto a wall, for the first time!! It was the wall that faces our neighbors house (who has a cat that sits in their windows all of the time).
Let me back up a bit ... He's 8 years old, neutered, and for the most part, a great cat. We just moved into a new home (which we thought he would LOVE), and he seems very unhappy. We previously lived downtown in an upstairs apartment with no outside access for him. Now, there are stray cats, neighbor cats, etc. everywhere (which I think is causing the issue).
He runs around the house at night (loudly, jumping on and off things), meows oddly, and now, is spraying! After cleaning up the pee, and crating him for 20 minutes (so he'd calm down), I let him out, and he came over and pooped right by my chair!!!
I assume this is all behavioral. Is it worth a visit to the vet? I know cats are insanely finicky, and the move might have stressed him, but we aren't going anywhere, and we wouldn't consider giving him away or putting him down.
Anyone deal with an issue like this? Helpful advice is greatly appreciated!
