My cat is almost 3 years old and she still suckles and kneads one particular blanket every night and again in the morning...I'm wondering how normal this is? And why she does it....

I don't have a cat, but "cat suckling" made me think about "Meet the Parents." When Ben Stiller talks about milking the cat and being able to milk anything with nipples.

I've had two cats that did this. One alway suckled on my blanket and the other suckled on her own fur.

@mrskc: oh good, lol I was hoping my cat didn't have some weird problem. Do you know what causes them to do it? A comfort thing like babies? Being taken from their momma too early? -
Dogs do it too sometimes. I have heard it can be from being taken away from their mama early, but I've also heard it's just a comfort thing. It's pretty cute, I think!

I've never seen this, but I can imagine animals need their comfort stuff too.

I used to have a cat that did this. He would suckle any fabric, but loved shirts. I'd have wet spots on my tshirt from it, and I always thought it was really weird. I've had cats all my life, and he was the only one that did it. I'd say it's unusual but not (obviously) unheard of.

@Bao: yes! That's the only time he would do it! While I was wearing it. It was really weird and annoying, but then became kind of endearing.

@Bao: Yeah except he catches my skin or a nipple (clothed) in his paw pads and it hurts. And when he tries to do this when I'm engorged, he's gonna get swatted a LOT.

Haha yeah our cat does this all the time, and it annoys the heck out of me lol! It didn't use to, but now she goes right for my preggo belly, and *ouch!*. She also stole my blanket
