A friend of mine posted this story last night on her Facebook. It's the story of one mother who lost her child due to a freak accident that could have been prevented. The blog post is long so I will give you a brief & blunt summary. If you have the time I recommend reading it.

While her parents were asleep a little girl was crushed to death by her small bedroom dresser. It was light enough that it didn't make any noise when it fell on their daughter. Their daughter couldn't make any noise because it crushed her air way. By the time her parents found her it was to late.

They had secured taller furniture to the wall but not her dresser. This was a freak accident that could happen to anyone. I'm sure most of us grew up with out having furniture secured to the wall, outlet covers, child proof locks, etc but we have these safety features now because of cases like this. You can never protect your children from everything and obsessing over it is not healthy. However, securing furniture to the wall is something I had never thought about before and am now considering doing when we have children. This is why I wanted to share this story to you all.

Im posting the link to the mothers blog post, I'm telling you it will pull at your heart strings.
