Ladies, I have a blocked tear duct (at least I'm sure that's what it is). Right where my left tear duct is, is swollen and tender to the touch. I've been (not religiously) putting a hot compress on it, but I don't think it's helping.
Anyone know what I can do to make this go away!??!

Ahh I'm sorry, I've always just done warm compresses but you may need to see a doctor.

@T.H.O.U.: Thanks! I might have to do the warm compress a little more diligently. I've been slacking and that might be my downfall. Is there any point you can tell it's getting better?
It's kinda gross, but DH said his expressed a pus. ew. I don't like the sounds of that.

Have you gone to see the doctor?? If it's an infection, you may need antibiotics.

(You're talking about a tear duct, and not a plugged duct, right?)

Using a hot tea bag as a compress helps me. It stops hurting to the touch when mine starts getting better. Good luck!!

@Freckles: Yep! That's exactly it. I haven't gone to the doctor because I like to wait to see if I can cure things myself first before seeking medical attention! haha.
@wahine08: AH! I never thought of a hot tea bag. Does it matter what kind? All I got is earl grey. hahaha I'm at work so the only other thing I can use is paper towel and it doesn't keep heat well.

@.twist.: I usually use like a lipton's tea, generic or something. I don't think it matters! I've used green tea too.

I've had those several times... the doctor can give you eye drops and/or a nasal spray that will help tremendously.
How long has it been bothering you?
