Best thing for us was to use some breast milk in her eye. That an gently rubbing with a warm wash cloth. Hope it gets better!

My LO has had one blocked tear duct since birth. She's almost 14 weeks now. The pediatrian isn't going to do anything until 9 months unless there's an infection. Most mornings her eye is gunky when she wakes up and she gets a lot of eye crust throughout the day.
Hope you doctor visit goes well.

LO had blocked tear ducts in both eyes at birth. Her right cleared up after a week and her left took 12 weeks. Our ped wouldn't do anything about it until one year because 90% of cases resolve themselves by that point. It was gross having to clean her eye all the time and the peanut gallery drove me nuts about it.

Our LO had this for about 6 weeks... I would massage the area, use BM in there, clean with a warm washcloth.... It eventually cleared up.

Oh yeah, M had one of these for what seemed like forever!! I would rub the area closest to her nose multiple times a day and just wipe it clean with a wet washcloth. She was pirate baby for some time.

We had this problem when LO was very young and our ped recommended we massage it 3x a day and apply slight pressure with a warm, wet cloth. I got lazy about it for a couple of days and it turned into pink eye!

DS had one until about 12 weeks. We cleaned it with a warm wash cloth every morning. My aunt is an eye doctor and suggested that I massage the area with my fingertip a couple times a day, and it cleared up shortly after I started doing that.

I agree with @T.H.O.U.: and @coacheswife123: put a few drops of breastmilk in the eye a couple times a day and massage with a warm washcloth several times a day. C's cleared up within about a month using this method.

DS had one at birth. It cleared itself up after a few weeks with us doing nothing to it (except cleaning away crusties/goo/etc)

Yes, I put breast milk and rubbed her eye, and also used a warm wash cloth to clean it out. the milk helped it clean up in a few days!

Yep, breast milk and warm washcloth rubbing clears it up. LO had one for awhile. Like a lot of the early newborn stuff, it tends to clear up over time.

Thanks ladies- the dr prescribed some eye ointment and told me to do the massages- hopefully it clears up soon!
@mediagirl: her pirate look is adorable!!

Ditto on the massage + warm washcloth + breastmilk. I don't remember how long it took to clear up...2-3 weeks maybe...one day it cleared up.

W had SUCH a bad clogged tear duct his ped said he would probably need surgery after he turned one because he didn't think it would clear up on his own. But, after 6 months of squirting him in the eye with BM every time I fed him it finally cleared up! So don't worry, it's completely normal
