We waited about 3 days but put DS in cloth pretty quickly. The first few days we put vasline and a layer of gauze over his penis and then diapered as usual. We used fitteds so it isn't nearly as sensitive to repeling as fabrics like microfiber.

We waited until everything healed, including his umbilical cord stump...the stump took 3 weeks to finally fall off and pass the ooze phase, so we used sposies for the first 3 weeks. If we had more sized/NB cloth we may have used them earlier with the stump, but I didn't want to chance a OS getting in the way of anything and also didn't want to have to worry about any products ruining my cloth investment.

No one told us to wait... so I had to strip the diapers.

You could start with cloth and then stop when he has the circumcision for a few days. For DS it was healed within a week. They told us to apply Vaseline at every diaper change and since it's not cloth diaper safe, you shouldn't use your rental diapers at that time. I think we went back for a follow up at a week and they said everything was fine so we discontinued the Vaseline and put him back in cloth.
