A friend of mine is looking for a term to call the day they are going to celebrate their daughters adaption being finalized. They are tentatively using the term "Gotcha-Day" but are not thrilled about it and want something that they can use every year moving forward. Any suggestions?

Adoptees will tell you that Gotcha day conjures images of kidnapping and can be scary to them... We're just going to call it finalization day and celebrate as if we would celebrate a birthday!

@Mrs. Jacks: The term does not sit well with myself either. When I got their invite I was taken aback at first. I'm glad they are searching for a new name

You could consider "forever family day" which is inclusive of all family members

Yep, we plan to call ours the forever family day. I've also heard family day or using the child's name...like Andy's day.
