We bought a dresser as part of a set for LO's nursery, and secured a changing pad on top.

If we had a dresser I would've just repurposed it for the nursery!

We use a dresser with a keekaroo peanut pad on top (I HIGHLY recommend it - you just wipe it down if baby pees/poops on it). I don't think anything has ever gotten on the dresser itself. It works great.

We used the changing table on the p-n-p when downstairs and the floor or bed when upstairs -

We just used dressers and love them! So easy to use and still using at 2.5 years old.

We have one on a dresser. I don't believe pee or poop has ever gotten on the dresser itself! We just have a regular contoured pad and cover. We actually didn't even screw t on, just put a piece of non stick rug runner stuff under to keep it from sliding.

I actually can't imagine not having a changing table (or dresser top). It's different with different kids but for C it keeps her in one place. When I change her on the floor she wants to get up and run away.

I bought a changing table (used for $40), but only because we do not have any dressers. I would have used a dresser if we had one. I wouldnt worry about the dresser being ruined. The posssible leaked poop and pee is going to end up on the pad, and even if it does get on the dresser im sure you will clean it off. Who would leave poop and pee just sitting on furniture, yuk.

I think some sort of furniture is necessary, but that is because I have a back problem and dont want to be bending over to change diapers all the time.

we put a contoured changing pad onto a waist height ikea dresser. that way we had lots of storage on the bottom, and top of the dresser we had lots of room to put diapers, wipes, diaper cream, etc.

we have a boy and a handful of times he did pee while we were changing him, but if thats the case pee goes spraying onto other things in the room as well, not just the dresser. we just wiped it up with a towel then with lysol wipes. we never had poop get all over the place.

we only used the changing pad until he was close to a year old then we removed it, and we still use the dresser. if we got the changing table then we wouldn't really have a purpose for it now.

I bought an antique dresser, then painted and distressed it. Turned out great and plan on using a changing pad on top! My MIL wasn't too keen on the idea--she thinks I must have a changing table but I like it and didn't want another piece of furniture in the nursery.

I am super tall, so we used a dresser that is very tall we already had. I screwed the pad in the back. The surface did get ruined- by DH leaving a wet washcloth on it. No biggie. It has worked out really well, been really safe, and saved my back.

We bought a separate changing table. Our dresser isn't set up well to be a changing station. Plus I wanted the extra storage. We picked a changing table where the top is removable post-baby and it can be used as a basic side table anywhere in the house. So it has a life beyond our nursery!

@honeybear: and @matador84: I'm impressed! DD is only a month old and I can't even count on my hands the number of times she's pooped/peed while being changed. She loves to pee while you're lifting her up to wipe her butt so the pee just runs back all over her!

@raspberries: I always wondered how people change on these having to be at the bottom instead of the side! I'd be scared of getting hit with runaway pee/poop with a newborn!

We use a dresser with a non-skid shelf liner (he squishy stuff) layered on top and then a contoured changing pad on top of that. Been using this for 2 years and never had an issue!!! And we have never gotten poop or pee on the dresser...I'm not even sure how that would happen!

@catomd00: Our DS isn't here yet (6 more weeks to go!) but the crib is the same height all around - we have the changer at one end, so I figure we'll be able to change from the side or the front, whichever works better.

We have a changing pad on top of the dresser. She has projectile pooped once, and it got on me, not the dresser. It will be fine. I did't want to buy a piece of furniture that had a limited lifespan.

We have a waterproof changing pad on top of the dresser, and poop and pee have NEVER gotten on the dresser itself. I also have a cute changing pad cover, so I had a few waterproof pads I would lay on top in case of pees during the infant stages to protect the changing pad cover (just so I wouldn't have to wash it constantly).

Use the dresser with a pad on it.
