What do you do for chapped lips on a baby? I don't think I can put lip balm on her...maybe vaseline? Help!

You could try a little aquaphor, but it's normal and will resolve itself if you don't do anything.

My doctor told me I could use lanolin on our 3 week old's lips. It's safe for breastfeeding so is the same as putting it directly on his lips. He had chapped lips and a blister from sucking and it seems to help so far!

My baby got these often and they'd usually disappear within 12 hours, with no treatment. My doc said they're sucking blisters and not to do anything about it (though lanolin, expressed milk, etc. certainly wouldn't hurt if you want to).

Thanks all. I let it go about 24 hours, but did end up putting a little lanolin on her lips. She kept trying to eat my finger so I don't guess she minded too much.

Yeah, DS had that issue when he was newborn for a few weeks... went away as he got better at BFing.
TIP: do NOT pull the little flakes! Lips will bleed.
We tried lanolin and milk... only time helped.

Coconut oil! I wouldn't put aquaphor or vaseline... not a fan of petrolatum.
