@alison206: While when you ovulate can vary drastically from cycle to cycle, your luteal phase (from O to AF) is usually pretty consistent (for each indivual person). So if your LP is usually 14 days, it will always be around that long. Hope that makes sense

@Rachel: thank you for explaining it. That makes sense and takes the worry out of wondering if I'll start today or tomorrow.

  3. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@alison206: Because your luteal phase wouldn't be that short! So, unless you're way wrong (and FF is way wrong) about when you ovulated, AF would show up 10-14 days after O. I can't remember how long you've been charting, but do you know how long your luteal phase is? I think you ovulated around CD29 right? You really shouldn't expect AF before CD39 (at a minimum), even if you're used to 34 day cycles. DId that make sense? I am bad at explaining things...

  4. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@sslm: that did! Sadly, I don't know how many days are between O and AF as I got pregnant our first cycle charting and trying.

@Rachel: Ok jeez. That was much more too the point... haha. This is why my parents laughed hysterically when I said I wanted to be a teacher...

  6. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@alison206: Well, I can pretty much guarantee that your LP wouldn't be 4 dpo, that would be a huge concern and you wouldn't have gotten pregnant before if that were the case!

  7. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@sslm: thanks that is reassuring. Off topic are you a teacher?

  8. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@alison206: Lol heck no! I'm an engineer! My parents were definitely right, I could never be a teacher.

  9. ladybee

@sslm: I am a teacher and I am confident you make way more money!

  10. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@alison206: Possible, teachers don't do too bad up here though But yeah, definitely more earning potential as an engineer.

Omg this thread is cracking me up!! My dh's family is from Winnipeg!! I've never been.

Alison yeah AF isn't coming for at least a week unless you estimated your o date wrong.

@JoJoGirl: Well, most people here call it "winter-peg" and also, I have heard there are two seasons: winter and mosquitoes. I have never been either, so I guess I am just spreading bad uninformed gossip

  13. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@sslm: Stinker ;P. And you've got it wrong. We have two seasons: winter and road construction. No mosquitoes this year at all and it's super hot. And we are really nice, I swear.

@Grace: lol!!! Sorry!!! I'm from the east coast and we get made fun of a lot too!! I've been living in Ontario too long I guess, I'm starting to get mean oh and I have never once heard a bad word about the people there, just the weather

@sslm: Haha, I'm just bugging you. :). I'm off to Nova Scotia and PEI for holiday on Wednesday. Any suggestions?

@Grace: Oh my god, LMAO, winter and road construction. I suppose that's a good thing, that the economy is doing well enough to provide a lot of construction jobs.
The only other time I went to Canada was on a plane to Norway. A guy needed medical attention and we had to make an emergency landing in Newfoundland. We had too much fuel so we had to circle in the air for 2 hours then we were on the tarmac for 3 hours. This is on top of an 18 hours flight. So I did not have a good experience then...haha.

Should we all do a check-in? I feel pretty new here and I dunno everyone's background and history other than SSLM from WB.

@Grace: where are you staying in ns? I can recommend some stuff!! Don't know too much about pei though, haven't been there since I was a kid!

Guys, huge temp dip today, below cover line... I didn't have that with my BFP or last months bfn, or the bfn the month becore that, so it's a little strange.

@sslm: That is a big drop, implantation dip maybe? Will be interesting to see what it does tomorrow.

  22. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@sslm: Or, your dip is an implanation dip? It's not like your chart has to look identical to your last pregnancy chart.

    Here's me:

    Cycles TTC: 7th

    CD: CD18, 3DPO

    POAS date: Aug 4

Favorite Movie from the past 5 years: Let's say "Definitely Maybe"

@sslm: Huh, I don't know - but maybe implantation dip. Any other factors, like poor sleep quality?

    Cycles TTC: 5th

    CD: CD11

    POAS date: Who knows..

Favorite Movie from the past 5 years: I am so sleepy this question made me stressed out, ha ha! I dunno, I loved Moon.

    Link to chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3cf794

Can I ask you guys a question? Maybe I'll put this as a separate thread.

Today is CD11. The other months I've used OPKs they've turned positive on CD15, then CD16, then CD21 last month (grumble). My acupuncturist is convinced I'm going to 'regulate' and fall back closer to CD14. What day do you think I should start using OPKs? I only wonder because I'm using digitals so would hate to start today and go through half a box or more. I would also hate to miss it. I had a HUGE drop in temp today, so I'm not sure what to do. I suppose I could use the internet cheapies and when they start fading in, switch to digitals, but I don't have any on-hand yet. What do you think?

  24. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@JoJoGirl: I like the idea of using the cheapies and then switching to digital to confirm. Either that, or just do a marathon BD until your temps go up.

  25. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

@Grace: Haha yeah, i feel silly asking because the most logical answer is just "BD until you hate each other", but I always feel better knowing they go positive. Thanks

  28. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

@sslm: Oooooooh i forgot about the dollar store. I live walking distance from one - maybe I'll use a digital today and grab some of those tonight on my way home. Good idea, thanks!

  29. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@JoJoGirl: I would use the cheapies till you start to see a fade in and then use the digital to confirm!

  30. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

@Smurfette: I don't know why I didn't think of that before (a nurse at my doctor's office actually suggested it, she said that's what they tell their IUI patients to do). I'll get on it. Thaaankkks. How are you feeling!? I'm so happy you haven't abandoned us

  31. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@JoJoGirl: Of course I am not abandoning y'all! Ok, starting to get small waves of nauseous but I can drink a Sprite or eat something small and feel better. Just exhausted though. Super, super nervous. We have an ultrasound next Friday, so hopefully we hear a really strong heartbeat that will make me feel better.

Cycles TTC: Only cycle 2 in total. First month trying was March and we were lucky enough to get a BFP, then we mc and d&c in May. So here we are cycle 2 in total but first after mc.

    CD: CD34, 5DPO

POAS date: I say Aug 1 (14 DPO), however will start July 29th (at 11 DPO). FF says Aug 6 (19 DPO). I don't have that kind of self control plus I have 9 FR tests, and 4 digtial so...

Favorite Movie from the past 5 years: I loved Enchanted

Link to chart: My Ovulation Chart

Side Note: I want this to be our month for obvious reasons, but DH birthday is Aug 3 and I'd love to get a cake with "We're Pregnant!" written on it. Plus my grandma lives in FL and she only comes up here once a year. We will be meeting at my parents (2 hrs away). She will be here that weekend and I'd love the chance to tell her face to face (even if something did go wrong at least I'd have that memory).

Thoughts on my Sunday temp. Is it bad that I hit the red line? I'm thinking of discarding because we went out the night before, I had a glass of wine (was DD hours later), we got home late and I slept poopy. What do you guys think?

  36. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

@alison206: I wouldn't bother discarding it.. you already have crosshairs so it won't change anything if it's there.

  37. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@alison206: wouldn't bother discarding! Won't affect anything at this point.

  38. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@jojogirl, @sslm: thanks! I don't know how I'd manage without HB! What are you looking for chart wise that would indicate pregnancy?

  39. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

@alison206: Usually sustained high temps beyond 14dpo or so if AF hasn't arrived by then. Or not just sustained temps, but triphasic temps where they shift HIGHER instead of lower after a certain point. If you go to the FF gallery and click on pregnancy charts, you can look through a ton of them and start seeing the trends. You're a bit too early on in the LP for a dip to mean anything, from what I understand.

  40. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@alison206: I will get super excited If I see crazy increasing temps after 12dpo. I already get triphasic charts, so that alone won't be enough for me.
