@JoJoGirl: Our lucky month, we BD Sat morning, positive OPK Sunday afternoon, and BD Monday morning at like 5 am before his flight. So if you can't tonight, try first thing in the AM!

@Smurfette: Unfortunately I get up 3 hrs before DH weekday mornings so evenings are our only go at it! Will go for it tonight!

@JoJoGirl: If tonight doesn't work, your DH might not mind being woken up for some lovin'! I did that with my hubs once and he loved it!

@Rachel: I love that this is what I will go down in Hellobee fame for saying! :). @JoJoGirl: Good luck!

Hahah OMG DH would be horrified if he knew I was on here discussing when we were going to BD. Since I get up at 5 I have a feeling even lovin' wouldn't make up for waking him up at that hour!!! We'll make it happen somehow - he knows what the digital smiley face means

@JoJoGirl- good luck!
I got a positive OPK today too. We've been BDing since Friday night-- took a break on Sunday and will be BDing again today and for the rest of the week to cover our bases. I don't think DH minds all the BDing... hehe!

Ugh you guys, am I out? Long story but didn't happen last night or this morning... definitely tonight, but I'm worried this means we're out. BDd F/S/Sun, not Mon, OPK+ Tuesday, BD Weds. What do you think? Also i had a MASSIVE temp spike this morning, which makes no sense - is it possible to O the same day as the +OPK? Maybe I O'd yesterday (which means no BD on O-1 or O..BLERGH)?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: You're not out until you're out!!!! Sperm can last up to FIVE DAYS in fertile CM, so even if you ovulated yesterday, you still have a chance! Just try to have sex tonight incase you ovulate today, but I think you're still in the running!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@JoJoGirl: You aren't out. I've heard sperm last for 5 days in the right conditions!!

@Grace: @Adira: Thanks ladies. This whole TTC thing can take its toll, huh? We'll try to make it happen tonight and I'll see what happens with my wonky chart. I'm going to take another OPK today too to see if it's + or -, maybe that will give some insight as well.

@JoJoGirl: you are definitely not out! If you did ovulate yesterday, you still got o-2 and o-3! That's still enough
pomelo / 5073 posts
@JoJoGirl: There was an article out that research showed more babies were conceived from BD on O2 and O3 days than on O day and O1+. I definitely don't think you are out! Remember, it just takes 1!

@Jennimac: THANK YOU! Gosh so much stress! Now I'll just hope I Od yesterday

@JoJoGirl: I totally get it. This month, I had my ovuluation pains and Hubby was EXHAUSTED, like fell asleep in his chair before we went to bed. I knew I couldn't wake him up and be like, suck it up man! I felt so awful and laid there thinking, there go my baby dreams this month. We only BD the night before O-ing because of our work schedules/living in different towns. I talked myself off the ledge and was like, this is that crazy stuff you said you were not going to do when you could start trying again. : ) After dealing with the loss of our daughter, I've realized/known we aren't in control. I just need to be patient because I'll be a mother again, it WILL happen. I just need to enjoy life without the constant worry of everything that is TTC.
Good luck with your TWW!!!!

@Jennimac: You have know idea how much I needed to hear that, thank you - I know I have to 'let go' with this process and just trust, and it's so hard, so every reminder helps. Thanks
Also, does anyone know what the dotted crosshairs are about? If I put in another high temp tomorrow, I get dotted crosshairs the day BEFORE the OPK, CD18. I can't imagine that could be accurate, eh?
pomelo / 5073 posts
@JoJoGirl: I'm pretty sure the dotted crosshairs are FF's way of saying, "We are pretty sure, but not positive that you O'ed this date. We will wait and get more info and then decide for sure."
nectarine / 2152 posts
Just chiming in here because a) I'm bored and b) I always stalk this thread...
@Jojogirl The dotted crosshairs mean FF isn't completely confident about your O date...
I was looking at your chart, how come you discarded that one high temp?? If you put that back in, does it change things?? I think that happens to some people, where they have a temp spike, then drop then a second rise (maybe called a fallback rise?)...It looks like it happened on your last cycle too...
As for OPKs, one thing to remember is that it is only measuring your hormones at that moment but you don't know when the surge started...So say you took an OPK at 2:00 pm the day before and your surge started after that, say at 3:00 pm, but you don't test again until the following afternoon, you'd already be 12-24 hours past the beginning of your hormone surge...So I think it's fair to always give a +/- day window for the positive OPK....At least, that's what I read somewhere on the great wide interwebs...
Plus, I've only been able to get positive OPKs on two out of the four cycles I used them before I got the monitor and the cycle where I had the chemical, never got a positive so I don't think they're the end-all, be-all for determining O...
pomelo / 5073 posts
@JoJoGirl: And yes, giving up control and just trusting is the hardest thing for me to do. It's ironic because there are other things in my life that just 'trusting' does not help at all, actually is a hinderance because I don't do anything. This trusting is best in TTC so you don't have the extra stress and stuff, but try as I can I have to force myself to be calm about it. : /

@Trailmix: @Jennimac: I you guys. Thanks for the input.
@Trailmix: I discarded the temp because I took it 2 full hours later than I usually do (weekend), which is why it was so high. I un-discarded it and keep putting in different temps for tomorrow. If my temp is high tomorrow, I'll get dotted CH at CD18 (Monday)! If it's low, I won't get them at all. I guess my wonky temps are just throwing it off this month.
I'm going to take another OPK this afternoon which should give me some more info too. If I did O 2 days ago, it should definitely be negative. If it's positive, I don't know what's going on with my temps!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Even though that temp is high, FF knows you took it later than normal, which is why it has an open circle. It doesn't use those temps as heavily as the others, so it hopefully won't mess up your chart too much.
nectarine / 2152 posts
@Jojogirl Hopefully it's negative but even if it's positive, don't get too wrapped up in it, one cycle I got positive OPKs four days in a row but FF gave me an O date on the second positive day...Imma take another look at your chart now and see if I can come up with anything else...
Do you monitor your CM?? That's always helpful for me...
ETA: My best guess on O date is Monday, even though you got the positive OPK on Tuesday but I would BD tonight and see what tomorrow's temps bring!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: I sometimes check CM but not always. It was def watery the last few days. I've never seen EWCM. We would have used pre-seed last night but that didn't happen.
I actually hope O date was Monday after the busy weekend!
THANKS for your input!!!
@Adira: Ah good to know! I'll leave it in!
Update: OPK was negative! So:
Monday around 1:30pm (?) Negative
Tuesday at 3pm: Positive
Wednesday at 11:45am: Negative.
I guess all signs point to Monday..
nectarine / 2152 posts
@Jojogirl This is gross but checking the toilet paper after a, ahem, movement, if ya know what I mean, is how I've been able to spot EWCM. Just a tip from me to you And obviously watery is a good sign too! Plus, if it changes to creamy (EW!), then that's probably a good indicator that O happened. Mine usually changes about 24-36 hours after O).
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: Ha ha thanks for the tip!! i don't think anything is off limits on HB..
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Whether it was Monday or Tuesday, I think you're still in the running!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: @Adira: Yes! I think Monday would be ideal, Tuesday would be still okay - TODAY as O day would have been not so good, but given my temp, I don't think that's possible (I've always assumed I O'd the day of or day after my + OPK - maybe that's been our problem this whole time?!?!). I should really just screw it and get the monitor. How do you like it??
@Adira: Thanks!!! As long as it's not today, I think I'm still in!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Have your checked your CM at all today? Mine tends to dry up a couple days after I ovulate (and then get creamy), so that could also be an indication of whether you've ovulated or not. AND if you're feeling REALLY ambitious, you could check your cervix position! If it's low and firm, then you'll know for sure you ovulated already.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Um, since I have my own office, I can tell you it's creamy today I guess that's a good sign? Also apparently my cervix points like ALL the way to one side, so I can barely reach it.. hope that doesn't impede conception
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: hahahaha, nice! Yes, I'd say since it's gone from watery to creamy, you most likely ovulated already! Which is good, considering your BD schedule, so hopefully you're on your way to a BFP!!!
ETA: lol about your cervix! It could just be the way you're reaching for it - I know that when I felt mine, it definitely felt off-centered. But if you could feel it, that's also a sign you ovulated!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: Oh sweet relief! Hope so too!
This was also a lesson - relying soley on the OPK in previous months to time BD was likely NOT a good strategy.
ETA also: I could feel it better on Monday.. not sure what that means... and my gyn has often said "who that thing is all the way off to the left!"
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Oh, ALSO, when you are close to ovulation and when you ovulate, your cervix pulls up and gets all squishy and swimthroughable (that's a word, right?) so I don't think it's "direction" really matters at that point.
ETA: When you felt it on Monday, did it feel firm? I'm not sure how long after you ovulate before your cervix drops back down, so I'm not sure what that means.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: Hmm. It def felt 'softer' on monday, I think? I don't know. I need to be more consistent about this instead of checking it every couple of days so I can feel the differences.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: I'm definitely not the best to give advice on cervix checking, because I only did it twice (once I could barely feel it and the other time I could) and I just got lucky that I got knocked up that cycle.
If it felt softer on Monday, that IS a good sign that you probably ovulated around then! If it's firmer now, you've almost definitely already ovulated (I don't want to guarantee it, because what do I know??), so I think you are officially in the TWW!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: Ha ha.. hooray! I feel like a TWW fraud until I get my CH But I think you might be right!
