@JoJoGirl: haha, I know what you mean! I felt the same way, even though some times I KNEW I had already ovulated and was just waiting for the cross-hairs to show up! Sometimes knowing is worse though because then you're not already at least 3-days in and the wait seems EVEN LONGER even though it's just one or two extra days!

.@Adira: I've done SO much messing with my chart today to try and guess where it's going to put them, I finally just gave up! We'll see what my temps do but every option was either Monday or Tuesday, all dotted lines. I wonder what's screwing it up so badly!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: My guess is those two high temps on CD 8 and 9 are throwing it off. Your temps don't rise above those until today, but yesterday's temps are definitely the beginning of a rise. Plus you didn't enter very many days of CM, so it's really just going to be guessing. My bet is that if your temps are still up tomorrow, it'll put dotted cross-hairs for Monday, and that's probably as good as you're going to get. There have definitely been a couple months for me when I got the dotted cross-hairs even though I KNEW when I ovulated, but FF just couldn't figure it out for sure. Hopefully tomorrow it'll give you cross-hairs for Monday, although it might wait until Friday and give you cross-hairs on Tuesday to correspond with your + OPK.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Yeah that makes sense. If I take out the one day of CM I entered, it puts crosshairs on Tuesday instead (entering fake data for the rest of the week). Do you think it's better to take out the one CM day cause i wasn't monitoring it consistently?
Bottom line is I guess it was Monday or Tuesday, which means the bding seems to match up well enough to say I'm still in
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: I think you should leave in any information, even though FF might not know for sure what's going on. I think we both know you ovulated Monday or Tuesday, even if FF can't quite figure it out! I REALLY hope you get a BFP this month!!!!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: Hahah I you - "we both know you ovulated Monday or Tuesday..." like it's a secret club
I put in fake data for the next few days and if temp stays up, it'll eventually give me CH on Tuesday (not dotted). I guess I'll put back in the CM data even though it's spotty (teehee) and then stop messing with it for a few days. But yes, regardless, I am in the TWW. Phew!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: hahaha, yay! I hope the TWW FLIES by for you!!! If you ovulated Monday (or Tuesday), when will AF be expected? When do you think you'll test?? I don't know why, but I'm sooooooo excited for you this month!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: hehehehe EEEE thanks!!!!!! I'm so happy we managed to have such a busy weekend I really hope you're right.
As far as AF, let's say I Od Tuesday to be conservative (and match up more with the OPK).... My LP was 13 days last month so I guess that puts AF at Tuesday, 8/14? I'll probably test over the weekend, say 8/11? That would be 11 or 12dpo.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Oh my gosh, 8/11 cannot come soon enough!!!! I hope the week flies by. Are you going to keep busy this weekend?
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: Hahahahah i absolutely LOVE TWW solidarity more than anything! Luckily we have SUPER busy plans this weekend next weekend (this weekend having a celebratory dinner for DH Sat night at which I WILL be drinking - 4 dpo/pre-implanatation, I'm not worried) - next weekend also some fun stuff planned! Hopefully it'll go quickly! Trying not to obsess about not BDing on O day or O-1 but I know people often do that on purpose when they are trying for a girl and end up with BFPs, so let's see
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Oh good!!! I'm glad you're keeping busy! I drank during my TWW too - had like 4 glasses of wine on 5 DPO. Definitely have fun! I think your BD schedule should be fine, so try not to worry! Just relax and visualize those sperms fertilizing your egg!

Hi all.. Can someone help me with my chart? It's the first time charting.
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3e060e
I think my chart is a little wonky. I'm thinking my O date might have been Sunday or Monday. But I didn't get a positive OPK until Tuesday. I always test OPK in the morning so if I tested morning and night I could have gotten a positive OPK on Monday. Thanks!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@mssally: This is my first full month charting too, so I'm no expert, but is it possible you O today? You have a dip today so I don't know. Seems unlikely you'd O 2 full days before the OPK and you had a temp spike on Monday! I'm not sure!
blogger / apricot / 349 posts
@jojogirl I know! I'm hoping it was Monday or Tuesday. My CM is drying up. LOL so I feel like I might have Oed earlier... We've been BDing like rabbits this week and I think we're all tuckered out.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@mssally: I'm not an expert on OPKs because I never used them, but I'm kind of with @JoJoGirl on this - I think you more likely O'd today or maybe yesterday. What's your CM look like today? I don't think your temps would drop like this after you O'd, so it seems unlikely that you O'd on Monday. Looking strictly at temps, I can see why you'd think maybe on Sunday you O'd, but I don't think you'd see EWCM for three days after that - EWCM usually shows up before you O. You could try to check your cervix position - if you can feel it and it feels low/firm, you'll at least know you've ovulated already.
blogger / apricot / 349 posts
@adira my cm is drier. Less EW but still clear. I will have check my cervix later. I've never checked my cervix before. Lol.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@mssally: Yeah, your chart is nutty. You have a few open circles, so I'm assuming that you took your temp at a different time those days? That can mess with your chart in the end. I heard of people getting a couple pos OPKs though. Perhaps your O is still to come?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@mssally: I suspect you either O'd yesterday or today (or will today), but who knows for sure! We'll have to see what your temps look like tomorrow to have a better idea I think! Good luck to you!
blogger / apricot / 349 posts
@grace- I also have been going to acupuncture. one of the spike in temperature was due to my session pre-o... I think i've oed already..
@adira- thanks so much for all your insight!!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Okay another question for charters: if I discard my high temp from CD16 (woke up 2 hrs later than normal), I get dotted CH at CD18. I know someone on here said don't discard temps cause FF takes open circles into account, but I'm confused by my lack of crosshairs. I had to put in fake (high temp) data all the way through Tuesday to finally get some on CD19... not sure which is accurate. Do you guys think I should discard it or just wait til next week for CH? I know it doesn't really matter at this point, I already O'd, but not sure what my coverline will be.
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3cf794
Also - I temped this morning at normal time (5:20am-ish) and got the same temp to the hundreth of a degree as yesterday (97.50). I took it a second time out of curiosity and it was 97.34. I put in the first temp because I've never taken it twice, but I found it curious it was so different the second time!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: Your chart is so puzzling!!! If you discard your CD16 temp, you get crosshairs at CD18, right? But you didn't get your +OPK until CD19, so that doesn't seem accurate either! Based on your CM, I suspect you ovulated on CD19, although I don't really know how OPKs work. If it was me, I'd probably leave in the temp, but it's up to you.
I wouldn't worry too much about your temps - I've seen that happen to me before, when I take my temp back to back, it's always totally different. I have no idea why, but I just always go with the first one.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Adira: Yep, if I discard CD16 I get CH at CD18. Someone (maybe trailmix?) thought it's possible I Od on CD18 if the surge started right after my -OPK, but then you'd think the CD19 OPK would be negative, right (it's negative after you O). I just logiced myself into realizing i must have Od CD19 after all. Okay I'll just stick with it and hope my temps explain themselves over the next few days
nectarine / 2152 posts
@Jojogirl This is probably the most frustrating advice to hear in your position but try not to overanalyze FF, it's not always completely accurate. I know when I first started charting, I would drive myself nuts trying to figure everything out but it just stressed me out even more...
Remember, it's just a computer, it doesn't have a little camera hooked up to your uterus to see if you O'd and whatever it says does not dictate what actually happens/happened to your body!
It seems fairly obvious to me that you O'd sometime between Monday and Tuesday, so if it makes you feel better to disregard that high temp and get dotted CH's, then do it!
As for the thermometer thing, that happened to me all the time. I would take my temp, not like the result and then take it again to see if it changed at all. More often that not, it would be up or down by a few tenths of a degree. I even bought a new thermometer bc I wanted to make sure I was getting an accurate reading and the new one was often more than half a degree different! FF is looking for a pattern so a few tenths a degree difference shouldn't impact it too much in the long run, it's just hard when you can only take things one day at a time and want definitive answers...
I know I've said it before but the monitor eliminates ALL this guesswork
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: Haha, thanks, and of course I know you're right about FF. It's irrelevant now anyway since the most important thing is to BD at the right time, which we did (mostly).
I told DH about all this last night and he was SO frustrated.. like, what's the point of an OPK if it's not even giving you enough notice?!? Why have we been only using them this whole time? I have a feeling we're going to just suck it up and buy the monitor, I'm already annoyed we didn't do it sooner.
nectarine / 2152 posts
@Jojogirl Just saw your response to Adira, I have gotten a positive OPK the day after O. Here's the link, hopefully, to my chart of that cycle)...
ETA: Argh, didn't work, stupid 'free' version of FF is so annoying...Sorry, you'll just have to take my word for it. Honestly, you can find the monitors on ebay for around $150, including pee sticks and seriously, it's worth the stress reduction and help in pinpointing O and BD times...Because we were like you guys, just not able to go for 10 days in a row or whatever, so this way we know exactly when to get it on
nectarine / 2433 posts
Hi Ladies, I don't post much but follow along with you all each month.
Anyone want to join me in speculating what is up with my chart this month. I usually have really consistent high temps during my LP (14 days) but this is the second dip I have had this cycle and there is really no reason for the one this morning. I really hope that it goes back up tomorrow.
Any thoughts..... http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/39892f
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: Did you buy it mid-cycle, like I am now? I know you have to start CD1 so I don't know when to get it. I have so many damn OPKs at home now! I'm not sure if I should assume we'll get a BFN and buy it now or wait til AF and then buy it.
nectarine / 2152 posts
@Jojogirl I think I bought ours after the third unsuccessful cycle, when I had a break down of epic proportions and my husband was like, you are getting that monitor-thing NOW, haha...But it didn't come until I was more than half-way through the next cycle so you're right, I had to wait until the NEXT cycle to use it (so this is only the second cycle I've been using it but I've been SO much more relaxed around O time that I was before)...
That is SUPER annoying though, that you have all those OPKs, especially bc you use the expensive ones, not the cheapies, right? I was running out of OPKs, so that was another reason for me getting the monitor. I guess maybe wait another cycle (if you have to, hopefully not!!!!) and then see how many OPKs you have left? That does kinda suck tho...
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: I'm now the proud owner of a stock of both expensive AND cheapie OPKs. I think the digital sticks are the same as the monitor sticks though, so I can always use them with it, I think. Do you find it told you the same general CD as you were getting with OPKs before?
nectarine / 2152 posts
@Jojogirl yeah, O date has stayed pretty consistent with what my temps have told me. I never had much luck with OPKs, only got positives on 2/4 cycles so the monitor was a huge help for me in that respect...since you're getting positives, maybe you don't need the monitor? I just like it bc it tells me when I go from 'low' to 'high' to 'peak' and then back down down to 'low' so I'm much more able to accurately pinpoint O and get better timing of BD...
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Trailmix: Yup. This being my 2nd month charting makes me wonder if I Od before the OPK in the past and maybe haven't timed BD right at all... 6 days of notice would definitely assist us in that department.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Do you guys know how to switch to FF research mode? It's like brain surgery trying to navigate that site sometimes. I can't find it (maybe it's a VIP thing)?
apricot / 368 posts
@JoJoGirl: Research is a VIP specific interpretation method, but you can change it to the other two non-VIP things. It's on your main "My Chart" tab, which shows the calendar and the chart, below that the fertility analyzer, below that the ovulation detector. Click on tuning/override and boom! You're there! =)
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@mrswin: Based on your previous charts, it looks like your temps have been a little wonky in the past during your LP - just maybe not dipped quite as much as they currently are. Has anything changed? Like did you go to bed later than normal or get less sleep or drink anything? Any number of things can affect your temps. I probably wouldn't worry about it too much if you can. It'll probably be back up again tomorrow. Good luck!
