@ladybee: I'm MIA for a couple of days and you go from being out to not having O'd?!?!? And then maybe back to POAS!??? What is going on??
grapefruit / 4079 posts
Ok ladies, I need help. I called my doctors office yesterday because the deal was if my cycles didn't become consistent we'd talk and well they clearly haven't. I told the nurse everything about the monitor, the OPK, my temps, my boobs hurting, everything. She ordered blood work and seemed to believe the monitor more on my O date. Also, my last run blood work a month ago suggested another shorter cycle. If the blood work comes back not pregnant they want to discuss my options for moving forward. I have a feeling that would include giving me Provera to make my period start. So I've come up with some ideas and I want to know what you would do.
Would you:
a. go get the blood work today, and if it says not pregnant take provera starting Saturday.
b. go get the blood work today, wait another week, take an HPT and then start provera if it's negative
c. go get the blood work on Monday and hope that it would so
correct results from either O date.
d. Some option I didn't think of?
My temps make me nervous that I just O'd. However, judging by our lack of DTD I doubt anything happened anways. Here is my chart.
Here is a sincerio in my mind: What if I O'd somewhere around CD 26?? My boobs started hurting around CD 32 after cramping on CD 31.
It's official I feel crazy!
@grace: my cycles are still so crazy and I'm getting mixed signals from every direction!!

@ladybee: I actually just clicked on this thread to tell you I thought you might have O'ed on CD35! Have you tried entering one more temp to see if it gives you new CH? I don't know how you feel about the fact that you DTD once around then. Other than that...it's pretty hard to pinpoint when else you might have O'ed, which means if you don't use Provera you could be waiting a long time for AF or not having a clue when she'll show up. Do you feel like you could take the chance that you may have just O'ed and wait out the 2WW, or just stop the testing and waiting?
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@ladybee: Holy snotballs, look at your temps! They've skyrocketed! Oh wait - lol, you are playing with your chart. Had me all excited for a minute.
I'd do the bloodwork on Monday. You'll be 6dpo if you O'd Cd35 and they can test progesterone to see if you did O. That will take some of the guesswork out for you. Then if you have O'd, you can wait it out and if you haven't (in which case I'd assume a beta would be neg too), then start provera.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@grace: lol yes I'm playing with my temps and I'm not getting CH. I think they're only doing a beta test. Does that matter?
@spaniellove: I feel like even if I did O on CD35 the odds aren't good. DH exaculated the day before then we did the deed. I feel pessimistic about it.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@ladybee: Personally I'd wait a week. Your temps keep rising and I'm pretty sure it's a late ovulation. I would hate for you to get a BFN blood test and start provera if there was a possibility you could still be pregnant. But I get being anxious too. Do what feels right for you.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@marionberry @grace @spaniellove: I'm so confused and anxious. I feel like my doctors office thinks I'm crazy.

From what I'm guessing due to my little BCP issue on saturday night, Aunt flow decided to show up unexpected yesterday. I thought well maybe it would just be spotting but its full on for 2 days now... Do I now consider yesterday as CD1 again? FF is still calling it CD11.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Chillybear: Hmm, don't know if it's doing that b/c of timing + only light flow?
ETA: It might be more telling if your temps drop all the way...
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ladybee: I think this is where you have to do some mental weighing of the benefits and drawbacks, as I like to do. Here are two options:
1) Hitting the reset button (with Provera) and not having to wait/wonder/keep testing - with the downside that this is for sure not your cycle
2) Waiting it out, possibly getting progesterone testing, in case you O'ed late and might be pregnant - with the downside that you may be stressed out and you don't know how long you'll have to wait
In which situation is the benefit greater than the drawbacks for you?
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@ladybee: I like @spaniellove's two scenarios - I think either of those is good... whichever you're more comfortable with.
Personally I think you O'ed late (maybe your body tried to O but didn't all the way, then did on CD35 finally, hence the monitor results)
So stressful, but hang in there! (virtual internet hugs)

OK, quick question for all you experienced charters (and I hope this is the right spot for this!)...
I just officially started charting/temping today (10 years on Orthocyclen, whew!) as it was my first day of withdrawal bleeding. I have planned on temping at 6:50, when I get up for work during the week.
Long story short, I ended up getting up at 4:50 because I drank too much water before bed...I did temp then, and got 97.6. When I got up at 6:50, I was right at 98.0. From what I can find, I should use my first temp, and just make a note of it?
Man, off to a good start!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ms.janedoe: There was so much time between the two times that you woke up that I would go with the second temp. But if you run your first temp through a corrector, your 6:50 temp is right in line with what it would have been had you not gotten up at 4:50 anyway! So for the sake of not seeing open circles, you can probably just use the 6:50 temp. And...temps during AF don't really count anyway.

@ms.janedoe: @spaniellove: already gave you good advice, but just wanted to say hi! welcome to charting!

@spaniellove: @Shutterbug: Thanks, ladies! It's crazy to be officially "crossing over!" I should probably give my copy of TCOYF another once-over as a refresher!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
Ladies, thank you so much. I cant tell you how much your advice and support means to me. I did not go get my blood work today. I'm not sure plus there wasn't enough time today!
One last question. How many dpo would a pregnancy show up in a blood test?
Again, thank you @grace @marionberry @spaniellove @shutterbug!
pomelo / 5073 posts
@ladybee: I'm so late to the party. I would wait if it was me in this situation. Let's say you did just O, so I would wait until a week or so and then if anything hasn't happened, do bloodwork. I don't know how soon it shows up in, but fertility places have you come in sometime around 10 DPO, I think?!? I know it sucks to wait, but in this situation I think it might be better.
I just am thinking positive thoughts for you!!!! I hope it gets better!!!!

@Ms.JaneDoe: welcome! I'm a newbie, too. Lots of women with good advice for you here. It's an exciting time.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ms.janedoe: TCOYF is a great resource! I totally still pull it out from time to time! And the FF boards are my other resource; I've learned so much from them.
Yay CH today! I might have known even without temping though because Tuesday night I suddenly started to feel warm in bed and this morning I was burning up (my dog might have contributed to that; she sleeps on me/in my spot). I'm still consistently a half degree below my usual temps, which now reminds me not to look for anyone's temps to be the same as their usual pre/post-O temps!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@spaniellove: YAY for CH! You're only 1 dpo behind me, so we're pretty much TWW buddies! It's funny you say that because my first dpo I was on fire, all day...then not for 2 days (when my temps went down) and then warm again today (when it went back up). It's funny how we really recognize that stuff now. But I do think Winter is having an effect on my temps getting lower than normal.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@spaniellove: @marionberry: It's funny, I feel like I'm the opposite... when my temp goes up is when I feel colder in the mornings... If, while I'm temping, I'm not wishing I could throw the covers off before the thing beeps, then I feel like my temp is going to be higher. Sort of like when you have a fever and you are cold, and then when it breaks you get hot/sweaty.
I think I'm like, a day or two behind you girls, although I'm pretty much just waiting for the next cycle, since I got my blood results and we also had terrible timing this month.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@shutterbug: Happy to have you on our TWW journey. That means you, me @spaniellove, and @ladybee all around the same time. Let's hope for good news!

Hi everyone. I've decided that it's time to start temping. I'm on CD2 right now. Can I start now, or is here a certain time of month that's best? I'm starting my 5th cycle since m/c in June and just worry that there's something going on. We'll be trying this month but taking the next two months off so I'm not due around my friend's wedding in Sept. I figure if it doesn't happen this month, I'll have 3 cycles of temps that will hopefully give me a little Insight once we're back to trying.

@marionberry: @Shutterbug: Fingers crossed for good news! You know how I hate to get my hopes up but I'm doing it anyway. I've felt for a long time that for some reason I wouldn't get a BFP until after the 2nd anniversary of my mom's passing and that was yesterday so now I'm really hoping it'll happen.

@futuremama: Welcome! Now's a good time to start. And I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It could be that your system is getting back on track? Hopefully having a chart will help you figure everything out.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@futuremama: Hi! I'm sorry about your m/c. It's totally fine to start temping on CD2... I usually don't start til CD10 or sometimes even later (because I know that I O late).
pomelo / 5041 posts
@futuremama: Welcome! It's always great to have a new face here.
@spaniellove: I'm getting my hopes up about this cycle too. Jenny Renny predicted it to be the one I'd get pregnant, and my chart looks pretty good so far. Still too early to really tell, but I have a good feeling I think. Although, I also know it's unlikely after 7 other tries, that this one will magically work, so I'm doing a bit of work to keep my hopes in check too.

Hey @marionberry, I just saw your chart this morning! Hows it going?
Its so exciting this month to see several ladies who have been trying for longer start to get good news. Makes me hopeful
pomegranate / 3032 posts
Rather quiet here the last few days... must have been a busy weekend.
How's everyone doing? any news?
As for me my 2nd period of the month just ended and i'm still trying to make heads or tails of my temps but i'm pretty sure i didn't O yet. Hubs is def come around on the we'll be having a baby sooner rather than later. I think he just needed to really think on it and let it sink in.
Funny story: His brother and SIL live in our town and they are both teachers. last week they both got held up at meetings and called Hubs and asked if he would pick their daughter (5 months) from the baby sitter and just hang out with her at our house until they could get there. So he had to go to their house get a car seat, install it in his car, pick up the baby and keep her happy for 2 hours. He did fine with the baby, but could not figure out how to get the car seat in right and was so nervous that in addition to using the seatbelt he had some bungee cords in his trunk that he used for added security.

@mrssomeone: I was shocked with my temp today. I woke up 20 mins early so I just laid in bed trying to sleep until my alarm. I was sweating when I woke up so I'm hoping its not just that I'm getting sick. If it stays up tomorrow I'll feel much better. Trying not to get my hopes up. Thanks for checking in!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@marionberry: Oh wow, what an awesome temp - dip on CD7 and then a rise today! FX your chart stays great! Hoping you'll test soon...
pomelo / 5228 posts
@marionberry - I wouldn't worry about the sweat thing. I woke up pretty warm today and my temp was exactly the same as the last two days. Hoping it means good things for you! I guess only the next few days will tell
pineapple / 12802 posts
@marionberry: I wake up warm almost every morning! I always think my temp is going to be way high and usually it's really normal.
ladies, I am officially confused. I had CH's on the 4th or 5th, then my temp dropped and the CH's went away, now my temp is going back up. I am pretty sure I O'd around the 4th... Would anyone be willing to shed some light on my chart, please? I know there isn't a lot of info in it and it's kind of a mess (at least to me it is).
Also, maybe there's nothing noteworthy, and if so that'd be good to know because I've been trying to figure out the hidden message in my temps for days. LOL
honeydew / 7916 posts
@.twist.: I can see why it gave you CH around CD15 - you had 3 temps that were above where a coverline would be (.1 degree above most of your previous temps, excluding any crazy outliers). But then your temps dipped below that and there wasn't a trend of your temps staying above that coverline, so it's not really looking clear that you've ovulated yet. It's possible that your body tried to ovulate but didn't.
As for the open circles...are you taking your temp at a consistent time each morning? It's hard to interpret a chart correctly with too many open circles.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@spaniellove: Thanks! The first couple times were REALLY off for timing and then I started to get on a more regular routine. As soon as I started temping I went on a girls weekend and there was some drinking which accounts for the one higher temp on the 4th which I discarded because I was drinking and didn't sleep well. So I was off to a bad start.
The 9th I took my temp 20 mins early, but when I put it through a temp corrector, it hardly changed so I just left it.
I guess I've just gotten a little impatient.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@.twist.: Yeah, 20 minutes doesn't change anything - I'd honestly just say it was the normal time to avoid the circle. If you see EWCM again, using OPKs might help...they won't tell you for sure if you're ovulating either, but they might give you more information!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@spaniellove: I've actually considered buying some cheapy OPKs because temping just seems to confuse me. I understand how it works but am constantly questioning if my body (or thermometer) is lying to me. haha I also worry if I wake up 10 mins before my alarm, or an hour before my alarm and then fall asleep again, etc, will affect my results. Then I worry about worrying and if that will change my temp. Vicious cycle.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@.twist.: I think had you had a longer history of temps, aka the whole cycle, ff might be more likely to have given you ch. Next cycle should look much better I think now that you've gotten the hang of it.
